A total of four bulls from Pardo Suizo breed were used with 700 ± 25 kg of LW, fistulated in rumen, fed with commercial concentrate (2 kg anim. day-1) and forage of Sudan grass (Sorghum sudanense), water and mineral salts ad libitum. The shrimp meal waste replaced (30 %) in the concentrate (70 %). A total of 84 dacron bags incubated in rumen in triplicate (72, 48, 24, 18, 8, 4, 0h) were used. The rumen degradability parameters reached values for the soluble fraction (a), insoluble fraction (b), for the potentially degradable (a+b), degradation rate (c) and effective degradability at different ruminal turnover rates (k =0.02, 0.04) of 17.24 %, 66.63 %, 83.87 %, 2 % h, 64.20 % and 60.10 %, respectively. It is concluded that the parameters reached of dry matter degradation confirm the possibility of using the supplement with the inclusion of 30 % of shrimp waste in ruminant animals feeding, although the degradability of the rest of the nutrients should be characterized and carry out field tests with animals in production.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN El objetivo del presente estudio fue caracterizar la degradabilidad ruminal in situ de la materia seca de un suplemento con la inclusión del residuo de camarón blanco (Litopenaeus vannamei) destinado para vacas lecheras. Se utilizaron cuatro toros de la raza Pardo Suizo con 700 ± 25 kg de PV, fistulados en rumen, alimentados con concentrado comercial (2 kg anim. día-1) y forraje de pasto Sudan (Sorghum sudanense), agua y sales minerales a libre voluntad. El residuo de harina de camarón sustituyó (30%) en el concentrado (70%). Se utilizaron 84 bolsas de dacrón incubadas en rumen por triplicado (72, 48, 24, 18, 8, 4, 0h). Los indicadores de degradabilidad ruminal alcanzaron valores para la fracción soluble (a), fracción insoluble (b), para la potencialmente degradable (a+b), velocidad de degradación (c) y degradabilidad efectiva a diferentes tasas de recambio ruminal (k=0.02, 0.04) de 17.24 %, 66.63 %, 83.87 %, 2 % h, 64.20 % y 60.10 %, respectivamente. Se concluye que los indicadores alcanzados de degradación de la materia seca, confirman la posibilidad de utilizar el suplemento con la inclusión de 30 % del residuo de camarón en la alimentación para animales rumiantes, aunque debería caracterizarse la degradabilidad del resto de los nutrientes y hacer pruebas de campo con animales en producción.]]></p></abstract>
