Br.) and A3 (Grassland) and four periods of the years (PY): 1-12-2015 (1); 1-6-2016 (2); 1-12-2016 (3) and 1-6-2017 (4) in a factorial analysis was conducted to evaluate the effects of agro-ecosystems (AES) and periods of the years upon the earthworm population density (EPD). There was not interaction (p&gt;0.001) between AES and PY upon the EPD. The agro ecosystem A1 (189 m-2) differed (p&lt;0.001) from A2 and A3 with (117 and 128 m-2) while these were similar in earthworms. The periods of the years effect (p&lt;0.001) upon the EPD was higher in PY1 and PY2 (157 and 188 m-2) without differences between them, meanwhile the PY3 and PY4 were similar (118 and 116 m-2) but differed from the previous periods. The best results in the response variable was achieved in A1 agro-ecosystem which coincided with the better forestry indicators with a mean difference of 1.66 m and 5.84 cm, in height and diameter, respectively. The survival of earthworms and its population density in all agro-ecosystems and periods of the years suggested that EPD is an appropriate bio-indicator to assess the soil health in agroforestry systems and grasslands, closely related with the edaphoclimatic conditions, design and management.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN Se utilizó un diseño completamente al azar con tres tratamientos (agroecosistemas): A1 (pastos y Alnus acuminata Kunth); A2 (pastos y Acacia melanoxylon R. Br.) y A3 (pastizales) y cuatro períodos (PY): 1-12-2015 (1); 1-6-2016 (2); 1-12-2016 (3) y 1-6-2017 (4) en un análisis factorial, para evaluar los efectos de los agroecosistemas (AES) y las estaciones en la densidad poblacional de lombrices de tierra (DPL). No hubo interacción (p&gt; 0,001) entre AES y PY en la DPL. El agroecosistema A1 (189 m-2) difería (p &lt;0.001) de A2 y A3 con 117 y 128 m-2, respectivamente, mientras que estos eran similares en lombrices de tierra. El efecto de las estaciones (p &lt;0,001) en la DPL fue mayor en PY1 y PY2 (157 y 188 m-2) sin diferencias entre ellos, mientras que el PY3 y PY4 fueron similares (118 y 116 m-2) pero diferían de los periodos anteriores. Los mejores resultados en la variable de respuesta se lograron en el agroecosistema A1, que coincidió con los mejores indicadores forestales con una diferencia de medias de 1,66 m de altura y 5,84 cm de diámetro. La supervivencia de las lombrices y su densidad poblacional en todos los agroecosistemas y las estaciones sugirió que la DPL es un bioindicador apropiado para evaluar la salud del suelo en sistemas agroforestales y pastizales, estrechamente relacionados con las condiciones edafoclimáticas, el diseño y el manejo.]]></p></abstract>
