In samples of green banana meal were determined: dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP), crude fiber (CB), ash, ether extract (EE), nitrogen-free extract (NFE) and gross energy (GE). Three barrow male pigs with an average live weight of 38 ± 2 kg were used for the digestibility study of DM, OM, CP, CF, NFE and GE. The animals were distributed in three treatments: T0 (corn and protein concentrate), T20 and T40 (substitution of corn in 20 and 40 % for green banana meal in the diet) according to a 3 x 3 Latin square design. The data were processed by ANOVA and the mean comparison was made with the Duncan (P &lt;0.05) test. The green &#8220;orito&#8221; banana meal, showed high content of DM (93.3 %), OM (90.28 %), NFE (91.33 %) and GE (16.98 kJ g DM-1). The best (P &lt;0.05) uses of DM were obtained in T0 (87.07 %) and T20 (86.23 %) diets. The higher (P &lt;0.05) use of OM (92.71 %) and CP (79.55 %) was obtained in the T20 diet. The highest (P &lt;0.05) uses of CF and NFE were reached in the T20 (51.97 %, 74.14 %) and T40 (51.21 %, 73.37 %) diets. There were no differences (P&gt; 0.05) between treatments for the use of GE. The green &#8220;orito&#8221; banana meal showed high content of DM, OM, NFE, GE and did not affect the apparent digestibility coefficients of OM, CP, CF, NFE and GE when substituting the corn in the diet in 20 and 40 % which guarantees an energy food of appropriate nutritional characteristics for growing pigs.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar la composición química y digestibilidad aparente de nutrientes de la harina de banano orito (Musa acuminata AA) de rechazo. En muestras de harina de banano verde se determinó: materia seca (MS), materia orgánica (MO), proteína bruta (PB), fibra bruta (FB), cenizas, extracto etéreo (EE), extracto libre de nitrógeno (ELN) y energía bruta (EB). Para el estudio de digestibilidad de la MS, MO, PB, FB, ELN y EB se utilizaron tres cerdos machos castrados, con peso vivo promedio de 38 ± 2 kg. Los animales se distribuyeron en tres tratamientos: T0 (maíz y concentrado proteico), T20 y T40 (sustitución del maíz en 20 y 40% por harina de banano verde en la dieta) según diseño cuadrado latino 3 x 3. Los datos se procesaron por ANOVA y la comparación de medias se realizó con la prueba de Duncan (P&lt;0,05). La harina de banano orito verde presentó alto contenido de MS (93.3%), MO (90.28%), ELN (91.33%) y EB (16.98 kJ g MS-1). Los mejores (P&lt;0.05) aprovechamientos de la MS se obtuvieron en las dietas T0 (87.07%) y T20 (86.23%). La mayor (P&lt;0.05) utilización de la MO (92.71%) y PB (79.55%) se obtuvo en la dieta T20. Los mayores (P&lt;0.05) aprovechamientos de FB y ELN se alcanzaron en las dietas T20 (51.97% y 74.14%, respectivamente) y T40 (51.21% y 73.37%, respectivamente). No hubo diferencias (P&gt;0.05) entre tratamientos para el aprovechamiento de la EB. La harina de banano orito verde presentó alto contenido de MS, MO, ELN, EB y no afectó los coeficientes de digestibilidad aparente de la MO, PB, FB, ELN y EB al sustituir al maíz en la dieta en 20 y 40% lo que garantiza un alimento energético de apropiadas características nutricionales para cerdos en crecimiento.]]></p></abstract>
