Yields of total dry matter, biomass, leaves and stems were determined, as well as height of the plant, length and width of leaves. Contents of DM, CP, NDF, ADF, ADL, cellulose (CEL), hemicellulose (HCEL), cellular content (CC), P, Ca, ash, OM, DMD, OMD, ME, NFE and leaf-stem, NDF/N and ADF/N relationships. There was a significant interaction (P &lt;0.0001) between varieties and area, for some of the studied indicators. The highest DM and biomass yields were obtained in Tanzania in El Empalme (2.17 and 6.97 t / ha, respectively, P &lt;0.0001), and those of PB were for Tanzania in Guayas (12.52%, P &lt;0.0001), while cell wall components did not differ among varieties, only ADL was significant for Guayas (3.82%, P &lt;0.004). The effect of climatic area on yield and quality of forages was demonstrated in the current research, where the best performance of productivity and morphological development was obtained in the area with the highest rainfall (El Empalme), while quality was better for that with the lowest rainfall (Guayas). Although there were no differences for leaf growth, cell wall components, digestibility and energy contribution, its adaptability and potential in the different ecosystems are confirmed.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Mediante un diseño de bloques al azar con arreglo factorial (3x2) se estudió el efecto de la zona climática (Guayas y El Empalme) en los indicadores de la calidad de tres variedades de Megathyrsus maximus (Común, Tanzania y Tobiatá). Se determinaron los rendimientos de materia seca total, biomasa, hojas y tallos; altura de la planta; longitud y ancho de las hojas; los contenidos de MS, PB, FDN, FDA, LAD, celulosa (CEL), hemicelulosa (HCEL), contenido celular (CC), P, Ca, ceniza, MO, DMS, DMO, EM, ENL y las relaciones hoja-tallo, FDN/N y FDA/N. Hubo interacción significativa (P&lt;0.0001) entre las variedades y la zona para algunos de los indicadores estudiados. Los mayores rendimientos de MS y de biomasa se obtuvieron en Tanzania en El Empalme (2,17 y 6.97 t/ha, P&lt;0.0001, respectivamente; de la PB fueron para la Tanzania en Guayas (12.52%, P&lt;0.0001), mientras que los componentes de la pared celular no se difirieron entre las variedades, solo la LAD fue significativa para Guayas (3.82%, P&lt;0.004). El efecto de la zona climática en rendimiento y calidad de los forrajes quedó demostrado en la presente investigación, donde se obtuvo el mejor comportamiento de la productividad y desarrollo morfológico en la zona de mayores lluvias (Empalme), mientras que la calidad fue mejor para la de menor precipitación (Guayas). A pesar de que no se presentaron diferencias para el crecimiento de las hojas, componentes de la pared celular, digestibilidad y aporte energético se confirma su adaptabilidad y potencialidades en los diferentes ecosistemas.]]></p></abstract>
