They were distributed, according to a completely randomized design, into four groups, with 15 repetitions each. Treatments were control (without MEAG), and addition of MEAG, in doses of 1.0; 1.5 and 2.0 mL/kg of live weight/day, orally supplied. The experiment lasted 42 d. Final live weight, weight gain, daily mean gain, feed conversion, hemoglobin, hematocrit, total leukocyte, lymphocyte, eosinophil, neutrophil, monocytes, mortality and morbidity were evaluated. Final live weight of the animals that received 2.0 mL/kg of live weight/d was 3.09 kg higher than control (P &lt;0.05), and did not differ between doses. For weight gain, mean daily gain and dietary conversion, differences were only found between the highest evaluated dose and the remaining treatments. Animals of this group were superior to control by 3.06 kg of weight gain and 72.86 g of mean daily gain. In addition, they improved dietary conversion in 1.02 kg of consumed food/kg of weight gain. Hematological values increased with increasing doses, but within the normal range. For morbidity, differences were found between control and treated animals, without differences among the latter. It is concluded that the use of MEAG as a feed additive improves the bioproductive and hematological indicators of pre-fattening pigs.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Para evaluar el efecto de microorganismos eficientes autóctonos de Guantánamo (MEAG) en indicadores bioproductivos y hematológicos de precebas porcinas, se utilizaron 60 cerdos (Yorkshire-Landrace/Duroc) de 33 días, y peso promedio de 9.9 ± 1.31 kg. Se distribuyeron según diseño completamente aleatorizado en cuatro grupos, con 15 repeticiones cada uno. Los tratamientos fueron control (sin MEAG), y adición de MEAG, en dosis de 1.0; 1.5 y 2.0 mL/kg de peso vivo/día, suministradas vía oral. El experimento tuvo una duración de 42 d. Se evaluaron los indicadores peso vivo final, incremento de peso, ganancia media diaria, conversión alimentaria, hemoglobina, hematocrito, leucocitos totales, linfocitos, eosinófilos, neutrófilos, monocitos, mortalidad y morbilidad. El peso vivo final de los animales que recibieron 2.0 mL /kg de peso vivo/d fue superior en 3.09 kg con respecto al control (P &lt; 0.05), y no difirió entre dosis. Para el incremento de peso, ganancia media diaria y conversión alimentaria solo se encontraron diferencias entre la mayor dosis evaluada y los restantes tratamientos. Los animales de este grupo superaron al control en 3.06 kg de incremento de peso y 72.86 g de ganancia media diaria. Además, mejoraron la conversión alimentaria en 1.02 kg alimento consumido/kg incremento de peso. Los valores hematológicos aumentaron al incrementar las dosis, pero en el rango normal. Solo para la morbilidad se hallaron diferencias entre los animales del control y los tratados, sin diferencias entre estos últimos. Se concluye que el uso de MEAG como aditivo alimenticio mejora los indicadores bioproductivos y hematológicos de precebas porcinas.]]></p></abstract>
