Se muestra y aplica un procedimiento de análisis energético para la conversión de industrias de la caña de azúcar en biorrefinerías. El objetivo del estudio es determinar los indicadores de desempeño energético en una planta de producción de etanol integrada a una biorrefinería mediante un procedimiento para el análisis del uso de la energía. Se aplican los balances de materiales y energía y el método de Análisis del Pellizco con el uso de HENSAD y Aspen Energy Analizer para el diseño de la red de intercambiadores de calor. El procedimiento contribuye a satisfacer importantes problemas sociales y económicos relacionados con la energía, aun no resueltos. Mediante la integración energética se identifica un potencial energético recuperable que representa el 71 % de la máxima recuperación de energía en la planta de etanol. Los ahorros de combustible y agua justifican proyectos de inversión para mejorar la recuperación de calor.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The sugar mills present losses of energy resources in the generation, distribution, use of steam and in the administration of water, which affects the energy performance indicators and therefore the economy of the industry. An energy analysis procedure is shown and applied for the conversion of sugarcane industries into biorefineries. The aim of the study is to determine the energy performance indicators in an ethanol plant integrated into a biorefinery by means of a procedure for the analysis of energy use. Material and energy balances and Pinch Analysis method are applied with the use of HENSAD and Aspen Energy Analyzer for the design of the heat exchanger network. The procedure helps to meet important energy-related social and economic problems, still unresolved. Through energy integration, a recoverable energy potential is identified, which represents 71% of the maximum energy recovery in the ethanol plant. Fuel and water savings justify investment projects for improved heat recovery.]]></p></abstract>
