<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0253-57852018000400059&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0253-57852018000400059&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0253-57852018000400059&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN Con el objetivo de estudiar el uso de la orina humana como fertilizante para sustituir formulados minerales en condiciones de agricultura familiar en el cultivo del maíz (Zea mays L.), se realizó un estudio en la finca La Nueva Esperanza, de la agricultura periurbana, en Camagüey. Se empleó orina humana colectada, almacenada por seis meses, aplicada en dilución al cultivo del maíz para comparar sus efectos con la aplicación de fertilizante mineral, fórmula completa 9-13-17 de N, P2O5 y K2O, respectivamente + Urea, y un control sin fertilizar. Se utilizó un diseño de bloques al azar y se tomaron 18 plantas de muestra por tratamiento. Fueron evaluados parámetros morfológicos como, altura de la planta y grosor del tallo, además de parámetros agronómicos como el peso de las mazorcas y rendimiento. Para el análisis estadístico se utilizó el programa STATGRAPHICS Centurion y los resultados obtenidos demuestran que el uso de la orina en sustitución del fertilizante químico obtuvo resultados similares a los obtenidos con el uso de fertilización mineral, sin diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre ellos, pero diferenciándose del tratamiento sin fertilizar, por lo que se concluyó que la orina constituye una alternativa económica para su uso como fertilizante en la agricultura familiar.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT With the objective of studying the use of human urine as a fertilizer in substitution of mineral formulations under family farming conditions, a study was carried out on the farm &#8220;The New Hope&#8221;, of peri-urban agriculture in Camagüey. Family-collected human urine, stored for six months, was applied in dilution to the corn crop to compare its effects with the application of the complete formula 9-13-17 + Urea, and an unfertilized control. A randomized block design was used and 18 sample plants were taken per treatment. Morphological parameters were evaluated, such as plant height and stem thickness, and agronomic parameters such as the weight of the ears and the yield. For the statistical analysis the STATGRAPHICS Centurion program was used and the results obtained express that the use of urine, in substitution of the chemical fertilizer, obtained results equivalent to those obtained with the use of mineral fertilization, without significant differences between them, but differing from unfertilized treatment, so it was concluded that the urine is an economic alternative for its use as a fertilizer in family farming.]]></p></abstract>
