Sin embargo, en Cuba no contamos con suficientes instrumentos normalizados para hacerlo. El presente artículo, tiene como objetivo adaptar al contexto cubano la Prueba para Evaluar la Comprensión Lectora (PECL) en escolares de 5.° a 7.° grado de la enseñanza general. La adaptación, desde un abordaje cuantitativo, fue realizada del 2014 al 2015 e incluye: 1) estudio piloto con 31 estudiantes para evaluar la legibilidad de los textos (usando Programa Inflesz), vocabulario y consigna de la PECL; 2) análisis de las propiedades psicométricas de la prueba, donde participaron 1152 escolares, de 10 a 12 años (M=11.03; DE=0.66). Se usó el Test de Procesos de Comprensión como criterio de validación externo. Los resultados pilotos muestran que los escolares comprenden instrucciones, lenguaje y significado de palabras de la prueba. Los ítems funcionan de manera adecuada (67.75 % respuestas correctas). Los textos son equiparables en cuanto a legibilidad. Las puntuaciones brutas muestran que no hay diferencias significativas entre rendimiento en comprensión y tipo de texto (p&lt;.001). La sensibilidad y especificidad muestran un alto nivel de coincidencia (&gt;74 %). La ANOVA evidencia diferencias significativas (p&lt;.01) en todos los grupos según el cuartil al que pertenecen los escolares (Muy Débil, Débil, Suficiente, Óptimo). El coeficiente de confiabilidad arroja índices aceptables (.71 a .74). Aunque pudieran ser útiles otras comprobaciones y ajustes posteriores, estos resultados sugieren que la PECLC es válida y confiable para evaluar el rendimiento en comprensión lectora en escolares cubanos de 5.to a 7.mo grado.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Assessing reading comprehension is vital to successful learning. However, in Cuba we do not have enough standard instruments to do so. This article aims to adapt to the Cuban context the Test to Evaluate Reading Comprehension (PECL) in students from 5th to 7th grade general education. The adaptation, from a quantitative approach, was carried out from 2014-2015 and includes: 1) pilot study with 31 students to evaluate the readability of texts (using Inflesz Program), vocabulary and slogan of the PECL; 2) analysis of the psychometric properties of the test, involving 1152 students, aged 10 to 12 years (M = 11.03; SD = 0.66). The Test of Understanding Process was used as an external validation criterion. The pilot results show that the students understand instructions, language and meaning of test words. The items work properly (67.75% correct answers). The texts are comparable in readability. Gross scores show no significant differences between comprehension performance and text type (p &lt;.001). Sensitivity and specificity show a high level of coincidence (&gt; 74%). The ANOVA shows significant differences (p &lt;.01) in all groups according to the quartile to which the students belong (Very Weak, Weak, Sufficient, Optimum). The coefficient of reliability yields acceptable rates (.71 to .74). Although further checks and adjustments may be useful, these results suggest that PECLC is valid and reliable for assessing reading comprehension performance in Cuban students in grades 5-7.]]></p></abstract>
