Objetivos:  Determinar la relación entre marcadores de laboratorio de pacientes con COVID-19 y la persistencia de la detección del SARS-CoV-2 en la nasofaringe.  Métodos:  Estudio observacional retrospectivo de pacientes con PCR positiva para SARS-CoV-2. El grupo control incluyó pacientes con una PCR positiva seguida de dos negativas, mientras que el grupo de casos incluyó pacientes con al menos tres PCR positivas consecutivas. El tiempo entre muestras consecutivas fue de cinco a 20 días y se incluyeron solamente pacientes con serología negativa frente al SARS-CoV-2. Se recogieron datos demográficos, comorbilidades, sintomatología, radiología, hospitalización, analíticos y de gasometrías.  Resultados:  El grupo control mostró valores CT superiores al grupo de casos, independientemente de la sintomatología, el patrón radiológico o el equipo de PCR utilizado. Los pacientes con detección persistente presentaron porcentajes superiores de monocitos e inferiores de linfocitos, así como niveles de amilasa, proteína C reactiva y dímero D superiores. Los valores de la fracción de desoxihemoglobina en la gasometría venosa fueron superiores en el grupo de casos, mientras que los de oxihemoglobina, saturación de oxígeno y presión parcial de oxígeno fueron menores.  Conclusiones:  Algunos marcadores de laboratorio podrían relacionarse con la detección prolongada de SARS-CoV-2 en la nasofaringe, lo que permite la optimización de recursos en el laboratorio y la correcta planificación de las medidas sociosanitarias.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction:  The prolonged persistence of SARS-CoV-2 in the nasopharyngeal tract in some patients was one of the primary challenges posed by the virus.  Objectives:  To determine the relationship between laboratory markers in COVID-19 patients and the persistence detection of SARS-CoV-2 in the nasopharynx.  Methods:  It was conducted a retrospective observational study of patients with a SARS-CoV-2 positive PCR. The control group comprised patients with one positive PCR followed by two negative results, while the case group consisted of patients with at least three consecutive positive PCR tests. The time interval between consecutive samples ranged from 5 to 20 days, and only patients with SARS-CoV-2 negative serology were included. Data on demographics, comorbidities, symptoms, radiology, hospitalization, laboratory analyses, and gasometry were collected.  Results:  The control group exhibited higher CT values compared to the case group, irrespective of symptoms, radiological patterns, or the PCR equipment used. Patients with persistent detection showed higher percentages of monocytes and lower percentages of lymphocytes, as well as elevated levels of amylase, C-reactive protein, and D-dimer. The deoxyhemoglobin fraction values in venous gasometry were higher in the case group; while oxyhemoglobin, oxygen saturation and partial oxygen pressure values were lower.  Conclusions:  Some laboratory markers could be associated with the prolonged detection of SARS-CoV-2 in the nasopharynx, facilitating resource optimization in the laboratory and the proper planning of socio-sanitary measures.]]></p></abstract>
