En el trópico, uno de los principales problemas sanitarios que afectan la producción son los parásitos internos, los cuales pueden causar pérdidas económicas por la reducción en la ganancia de peso de los animales. La presencia de trematodos como Fasciola hepatica es causante del decomiso de hígados en los mataderos; mientras que los paramphistomidos afectan el óptimo desarrollo de los animales. El objetivo del estudio fue establecer la relación entre los valores hematológicos y la presencia de trematodos en ganado bovino, en un clima cálido húmedo de México. Para ello se tomaron muestras de heces de 194 bovinos (vacas y toros), a partir de las cuales se realizó un análisis coprológico. El estudio se realizó entre los meses de octubre y diciembre del 2018. A partir de las visitas a 10 unidades de producción ubicadas en la región de los estados de Tabasco y Chiapas, se obtuvieron los datos con los que se realizaron los análisis estadísticos para determinar la frecuencia y la prevalencia. Como resultado, la prevalencia general de trematodos fue de 40,2 %, lo que correspondió a 78 animales infectados de un total de 194. La presencia de trematodos no afectó la composición hematológica de los bovinos muestreados. Se concluye que, a pesar de la alta prevalencia de trematodos en la región, los valores hematológicos se encontraron entre los normales indicados para los bovinos de las zonas tropicales.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Cattle husbandry in Mexico is highly important in the country&#8217;s economy. In the tropic, one of the main health problems that affect production is internal parasites, which can cause economic losses due to the reduction in the weight gain of the animals. The presence of trematodes, such as Fasciola hepatica causes the confiscation of livers in slaughterhouses; while paramphistomids affect the optimum animal development. The objective of the study was to establish the relation between the hematological values and the presence of trematodes in cattle, in a warm humid climate of Mexico. For such purpose, feces samples were taken from 194 bovines (cows and bulls), from which a feces analysis was made. The study was conducted between October and December, 2018. From the visits to 10 production farms located in the region of the Tabasco and Chiapas states, the data with which the statistical analyses were made to determine frequency and prevalence, were obtained. As a result, the general prevalence of trematodes was 40,2 %, which corresponded to 78 infected animals from a total of 194. The presence of trematodes did not affect the hematological composition of the sampled cattle. It is concluded that, in spite of the high prevalence of trematodes in the region, the hematological values were among the normal ones indicated for cattle from tropical zones.]]></p></abstract>
