Materiales y Métodos Se realizó un estudio en áreas de una Unidad Básica de Producción Cooperativa, perteneciente a la Empresa Agropecuaria Obdulio Morales, del municipio Yaguajay, en la provincia de Sancti Spíritus, Cuba. Se evalúo un sistema silvopastoril y un pastizal natural que tenían más de 10 años de explotación, distribuidos en un diseño totalmente aleatorizado, con tres repeticiones por tratamiento. Los muestreos de la macrofauna se realizaron durante dos años en las épocas lluviosa y poco lluviosa en la hojarasca y en las profundidades 0-10; 10-20 y 20-30 cm, según la metodología del Programa de Investigación Internacional Biología y Fertilidad del Suelo Tropical. La macrofauna se identificó hasta el nivel de orden y se realizó análisis no paramétrico de Kruskal-Wallis con el software InfoStat®.  Resultados  Se colectaron 1 207 individuos, de los cuales 840 correspondieron al sistema silvopastoril y 367 al sistema de pastos naturales. En ambos sistemas predominaron los coleópteros (133 y 313 individuos para el pastizal y el silvopastoreo, respectivamente), seguidos de los oligoquetos (78 y 144 individuos, respectivamente). Al analizar los índices ecológicos no se encontró diferencia marcada entre los sistemas evaluados.  Conclusiones El sistema silvopastoril le proporciona a la comunidad de macroinvertebrados condiciones favorables para el óptimo desarrollo de la macrofauna edáfica. En este sistema se encontró mayor cantidad y diversidad de individuos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Objective To determine the biodiversity and abundance indexes of the edaphic macrofauna in two animal husbandry systems in the Yaguajay municipality, Sancti Spíritus province, Cuba.  Materials and Methods A study was conducted in areas of a Basic Unit of Cooperative Production, belonging to the Animal Husbandry Enterprise Obdulio Morales, from the Yaguajay municipality, in the Sancti Spíritus province, Cuba. A silvopastoral system and a natural pastureland, which had been exploited for more than 10 years, were evaluated, distributed in a complete randomized design, with three repetitions per treatment. The macrofauna was sampled during two years in the rainy and dry season in the litter and at the depths 0-10; 10-20 and 20-30 cm, according to the methodology of the Tropical Soil Biology and Fertility International Research Program. The macrofauna was identified to the order level, and Kruskal-Wallis non-parametric analysis with the software InfoStat®.  Results A total of 1 207 individuals were collected, from which 840 corresponded to the silvopastoral system and 367 to the system of natural pastures. In both systems coleopterans prevailed (133 and 313 individuals for the pastureland and the silvopastoral system, respectively), followed by oligochaetes (78 and 144 individuals, respectively). When analyzing the ecological indexes, no marked difference was found between the evaluated systems.  Conclusions  The silvopastoral system provides the community of macroinvertebrates with favorable conditions for the optimum development of the edaphic macrofauna.
