Métodos: El estudio se realizó en el Centro de Investigación Obonuco de la Corporación Colombiana de Investigación Agropecuaria, Pasto, Nariño. Se evaluaron 26 accesiones de H. vulgare, 23 de Triticum sp. y una de Avena sativa L., bajo un diseño de bloques completos al azar con cuatro repeticiones por tratamiento. Las variables evaluadas fueron: vigor, altura, número de hojas, número de tallos, incidencia de plagas, incidencia y severidad de enfermedades, deficiencias nutricionales, porcentaje de materia seca. Se efectuó un análisis multivariado factorial de datos mixtos; seguido de un análisis jerárquico tipo clúster, a través del algoritmo de Ward. Para el análisis se empleó el software R V.3.6.0. Resultados: Las accesiones de H. vulgare presentaron mayor producción de hojas que variaron entre 65,0 y 123,0; mientras que los tallos entre 13,0 y 25,0; una buena altura y mayor porcentaje de materia seca. Las accesiones de Triticum sp. presentaron mayor producción de hojas, de tallos y rendimiento de materia seca, con una baja incidencia de enfermedades. Conclusiones: Se reconocieron materiales de H. vulgare y Triticum sp. con potencial para continuar en los programas de investigación y que pueden ser una alternativa para mitigar la estacionalidad forrajera y la baja calidad que se encuentra durante las estaciones secas del trópico alto Nariñense.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the adaptation and forage yield of Hordeum vulgare L. and Triticum sp. accessions in the high tropics of Nariño, Colombia. Methods: The study was conducted at the Obonuco Research Center of the Colombian Agricultural Research Corporation, Pasto, Nariño. Twenty-six accessions of H. vulgare, 23 of Triticum sp. and one of Avena sativa L. were evaluated under a complete randomized block design with four replicas per treatment. The evaluated variables were: vigor, height, number of leaves, number of stems, pest incidence, disease incidence and severity, nutritional deficiencies, dry matter percentage. A multivariate factorial analysis of mixed data was carried out, followed by a hierarchical cluster analysis using Ward&#8217;s algorithm. The R V.3.6.0 software was used for the analysis. Results: H. vulgare accessions showed higher leaf production ranging from 65,0 to 123,0; while stems ranged from 13,0 to 25,0; good height and higher dry matter percentage. Triticum sp. accessions had higher leaf production, stems and dry matter yield, with low disease incidence. Conclusions: H. vulgare and Triticum sp. materials were recognized with potential to continue in research programs and which can be an alternative to mitigate the forage seasonality and low quality found during the dry seasons of the high Nariño tropics.]]></p></abstract>
