Se realizaron muestreos con frecuencia mensual sobre 50 plantas de cada una de las 23 especies botánicas evaluadas en cuatro municipios de la provincia Ciudad de La Habana y sobre plantas aisladas en otros municipios de la provincia La Habana, para lo cual se empleó el método de golpeo sobre cartulina y los individuos recolectados se sometieron a las técnicas de aclaración y montajes tradicionales. La identificación se realizó con el auxilio de claves taxonómicas para especies de la región. Los resultados arrojaron la presencia de 19 especies de trips y se relaciona con los hospedantes asociados, Frankliniella lichenicola Joh . y Mojica , Stephanothrips occidentalis Trybom y Thrips orientalis Bagnall constituyen nuevos registros para el país. En los cultivos de rosa y cajigal se encontraron la mayor cantidad de especies de trips. El género Frankliniella resultó el más representado como ocurre internacionalmente.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Due to the importance of thrips in ornamental plants and to the limited knowledge about their host species, the present work was carried out in different localities of the two Havana provinces in 2003 and 2004. Samples were monthly taken from 50 plants of each of the 23 botanical species in four municipalities of Havana City province and from plants isolated in other municipalities of Havana province. Striking the plants over a white cardboard was the method used for sampling. The specimens collected were prepared by traditional techniques of clearing for slide mounting. Identification was done using the regional taxonomic keys for thrips species. The presence of 19 species of thrips was informed showing their relationships with the associated hosts. Frankliniella lichenicola Joh and Mojica , Stephanothrips occidentalis Trybom and Thrips orientalis Bagnall were new reports for Cuba. The highest numbers of thrips species were found in rose and cajigal crops. Frankliniella was the most represented genus, as it happens worldwide.]]></p></abstract>
