Se realizaron visitas y toma de muestras de suelo y raíces en área de las provincias La Habana, Mayabeque y Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. De las raíces afectadas se extrajeron hembras adultas con sus ootecas; de las primeras se prepararon patrones perineales y con las masas de huevos se establecieron poblaciones puras. En las plantas de tallos leñosos (moreara y sacha inchi) los nematodos agalleros provocan agallas de diferentes dimensiones y rajaduras en la base del tallo y raíces laterales; mientras que, en V. cinerea se provocan agallas de diferentes dimensiones y formas. Las características morfológicas de los patrones perineales sugieren la presencia de Meloidogyne incognita (Kofoid y White) Chitwood y Meloidogyne arenaria (Neal) Chitwood en morera; M. arenaria en sacha inchi y M. incognita y Meloidogyne enterolobii Yang &amp; Eisenback (syn. jun. Meloidogyne mayaguensis Rammah y Hirschmann) en V. cinerea.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The objectives of this study were to determine the presence of root-knot nematodes in plantations of mulberry (Morus alba L.) and sacha inchi (Plukenetia volubilis L.) with different symptomatologies and to stablish the presence of Meloidogyne on Vernonia cinerea L., a weed present in a coffee zone, with a heavy root galling. During some visits done to areas in the provinces La Habana, Mayabeque and Santiago de Cuba, Cuba, soil and roots samples were taken. Adult females with egg masses were extracted from the damaged roots; with the females, perineal patterns were prepared, and, with the egg masses, pure population were established. On plants with woody stems (mulberry and sacha inchi), the root-knot nematodes produce galls of different sizes and cracks on the stem base and lateral roots, whereas on V. cinerea, the galls are of different sizes and forms. The morphological characteristics of the perineal patterns suggested the presence of Meloidogyne incognita (Kofoid &amp; White) Chitwood and Meloidogyne arenaria (Neal) Chitwood on mulberry; M. arenaria on sacha inchi; and M. incognita and Meloidogyne enterolobii Yang &amp; Eisenback (syn. jun.
