</front><body><![CDATA[ <H2>  Actividad anticonvulsivante (antiepileptica) del extracto fluido de Indigofera  suffruticosa (a&ntilde;il cimarr&oacute;n) (a&ntilde;il cimarr&oacute;n)</H2>  <I>Lic. Jos&eacute; L. P&eacute;rez de Alejo</I>, <I>T&eacute;c. Roberto  Miranda</I> y <I>T&eacute;c. Gilda Rodr&iacute;guez</I>  <H4>  RESUMEN</H4>  Se prueba la acci&oacute;n anticonvulsivante del extracto fluido de <I>Indigofera  suffruticosa </I>(a&ntilde;il cimarr&oacute;n) preparado a partir de hojas,  tallos, ra&iacute;z y frutos. Se utilizaron dos modelos experimentales  de epilepsia: el modelo de <I>shock </I>el&eacute;ctrico m&aacute;ximo  (inhibici&oacute;n de la extensi&oacute;n t&oacute;nica de las extremidades  posteriores) y el modelo de inducci&oacute;n de convulsiones t&oacute;nico-cl&oacute;nicas  por picrotoxina. En ambos modelos fue ensayado un grupo control menstruo,  un grupo control diazepam y un grupo experimental, con la administraci&oacute;n  de 0,2 mL en cada caso, por v&iacute;a oral e intraperitoneal, en las dosis  de 1 mg/kg para el diazepam y de 0,06 g/kg para la Indigofera, durante  10 d&iacute;as previos al <I>electroshock </I>en la dosis oral y de una  hora antes de la picrotoxina. Se encuentra que el extracto fluido en la  dosis se&ntilde;alada y en ambas v&iacute;as de administraci&oacute;n eleva  el umbral de crisis en el <I>electroshock </I>pero no en la picrotoxina.        <P>Palabras clave: Extracto fluido; <I>Indigofera suffruticosa; </I>Anticonvulsivante;  Modelo experimental; Epilepsia.  <H4>  SUMMARY</H4>  Anticonvulsant action of fluid extract from <I>Indigofera suffruticosa</I>,  prepared from leaves, stalks, roots, and fruits, was tested. Two experimental  models of epilepsy were used: model of maximum electric shock (inhibition  of tonic extension of hind limbs) and model of induction of tonic-clonic  convulsions by picrotoxin. In both models, a menstruo control group was  as-sayed; a diazepam control group, and an experimental intraperitoneal  via, in doses of 1 mg/kg for diazepam group and of 0,06 g/kg for <I>Indigofera  </I>group, over ten days before electric shock in oral dose and of one  hour before Ptx. It is proved that fluid extract in above-mentioned doses  and by the two routes of administration, increases threshold of crisis  in electroshock, but no in Ptx.        <P>Key words: Fluid extract; <I>Indigofera suffruticosa</I>; Anti-convulsants;  Experimental model; Epilepsy.          ]]></body>
