Mar&iacute;a Teresa Buznego Rodr&iacute;guez</I>  <H4>  RESUMEN</H4>  Se realizaron ensayos con los extractos de flavonoides y fluido de <I>Plectranthus  amboinicus </I>en un modelo de peroxidaci&oacute;n lip&iacute;dica de tejido  cerebral, compara-dos con un antioxidante cl&aacute;sico, el a-tocoferol.  El extracto de flavonoides tuvo un efecto inhibidor sobre la formaci&oacute;n  de productos reactivos al &aacute;cido tiobarbit&uacute;rico comparativamente  mayor que el a-tocoferol, con una dosis de inhibici&oacute;n 50 estimada  en 10 mg/mL, mientras que para el a-tocoferol este valor oscila entre 40  y 50 mg/mL en el medio de reacci&oacute;n. En cambio, el extracto fluido  mostr&oacute; una dosis de inhibici&oacute;n estimada en 70 mg/mL. El extracto  de flavonoides alcanza el 100 % de inhibici&oacute;n a los 90 mg/mL y el  extracto fluido a los 400 mg/mL. Estos resultados pudieran relacionarse  con los efectos antiepil&eacute;pticos del or&eacute;gano franc&eacute;s  en varios modelos experimentales de epilepsia.        <P>Palabras clave: <I>Plectranthus amboinicus</I>; a-tocoferol; Flavonoides;  Antioxidante; Epilepsia.  <H4>  SUMMARY</H4>  Author carried out assays with extracts of flavonoids and fluid from <I>Plectranthus  amboinicus, </I>in a model of lipidic peroxidation of cerebral tissue,  compared with a classic antioxidant, Alfa-tocopherol. Extract of flavonoids  had an inhibitor effect on formation of products reacting to thiobarbituric  acid, greater than Alfa-tocopherol, with a dose of inhibition 50 estimated  from 10 mg/mL, whereas to Alfa-tocopherol, this value fluctuate between  40 and 50 mg/mL in the medium of reaction; however, fluid extract showed  a dose of inhibition 50, estimated in 70 mg/mL. Extract of flavonoids reach  100 percent of inhibition in 90 mg/mL, and fluid extract in 400 mg/mL.  Results could be related to antiepileptic effects from French Origan in  some experimental models of epilepsy.        <P>Key words: <I>Plectranthus amboinicus</I>; Alfa-tocopherol; Flavonoids;  Antioxidant; Epilepsy.          ]]></body>
