Zulima Pinedo Guti&eacute;rrez</I>  <H4>  RESUMEN</H4>  Con el prop&oacute;sito de establecer el efecto antiinflamatorio de la  <I>Petiveria alliacea </I>(anam&uacute;), se administr&oacute; un extracto  acuoso liofilizado de la planta en dosis de 100 mg/kg de peso por v&iacute;a  oral en ratas, en los modelos experimentales de pleures&iacute;a por carragenina,  granuloma por algod&oacute;n e involuci&oacute;n del timo por adrenalectom&iacute;a.  No se encontraron diferencias significativas entre los controles y los  grupos tratados, se sugiere que no posee acci&oacute;n antiinflamatoria  en los modelos y en la dosis empleada. Palabras clave: <I>Petiveria alliacea</I>;  Agentes antiinflamatorios; Phytolaccaceae; Plantas medicinales; Liofilizaci&oacute;n;  Ratas.  <H4>  SUMMARY</H4>  In order to stablish anti-inflamatory effect of <I>Petiveria alliacea</I>,  lyophilized aqueous extract from this plant was given, doses of 100 mg/kg  of weight per os in rats, using experimental models of pleuresy by carragenin,  granuloma by cotton, and thymus involution by adrenalectomy.
