Especies vegetales en Cuba empleadas en la preparación de medicamentos homeopáticos Dr. Víctor R. Fuentes Fiallo

RESUMEN

A pesar de que en 1839 se conocía la utilización de la medicina homeopática en Cuba, y que alcanzó un excelente desarrollo, su uso fue casi abandonado en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX por diversas causas; ha tomado auge en los últimos años, en el campo de la medicina humana y de la veterinaria. Como una contribución al desarrollo de esta disciplina en Cuba se ofrece un inventario de especies vegetales, empleadas en la preparación de medicamentos homeopáticos, nativas o exóticas que son cultivables en Cuba. Este presenta 96 especies, agrupadas en 91 géneros de 47 familias. Todas las especies incluidas poseen referencias de usos medicinales en la medicina alopática y 20 de ellas, poseen alguna referencia de toxicidad.

SUMMARY

Although the Homeopathic Medicine use was already known by 1839 in Cuba, having reached a high development; due to different causes its practice was almost abandoned in the 2nd half of the 19th Century, but in the last few years, it has been gaining increasing popularity, in the field of Human Medicine as well as that of Veterinary Science. As a contribution to the development of this discipline in Cuba, authors offer an inventory of vegetal species, -both native and exotical cultivated in Cuba-, used for the preparation of homeopathic medicaments. This inventory comprises 96 species grouped in 91 genera from 47 families. All of them have been referred to as medicinal in Allopathics medicine, and 20 of them were referred to as toxic.
