</front><body><![CDATA[ <H2>  Determinaci&oacute;n del efecto diur&eacute;tico de <I>Cymbopogon citratus</I>  (DC) Stapf (ca&ntilde;a santa)</H2>  <I>Dra. Daisy Campos Mart&iacute;nez</I>  <H4>  RESUMEN</H4>  Se precisa el efecto diur&eacute;tico de esta droga natural cuando se administra  la decocci&oacute;n <I>ad libitum </I>en modelos experimentales de ratas  Wistar. Se colocaron los animales en jaulas metab&oacute;licas y se determinaron  el volumen por minuto de orina, el porcentaje de diuresis relativa y el  efecto diur&eacute;tico. A las variables se les determinaron la x, la desviaci&oacute;n  est&aacute;ndar y el coeficiente de variaci&oacute;n. Se aplic&oacute;  prueba de hip&oacute;tesis para la comparaci&oacute;n de medias en muestras  pareadas (t-pareada) para comprobar la diferencia entre los grupos y se  determin&oacute; el intervalo de confianza (95 %) del efecto diur&eacute;tico.  Se concluye que los grupos con la droga y sin ella, no son diferentes y  que el intervalo de confianza de la ca&ntilde;a santa, administrada <I>ad  libitum </I>es m &Icirc; [0,73; 1,23], lo que ratifica que no tiene efecto  diur&eacute;tico.        <P>Palabras clave: PLANTAS MEDICINALES; AGENTES ANTIHIPERTENSIVOS; ANIMALES  DE LABORATORIO; RATAS DE CEPAS CONSANGUINEAS; ORINA.  <H4>  SUMMARY</H4>  Diuretic effect of this natural drug was specified in <I>ad libitum </I>decocction  applied to experimental models of Wistar rats. Animals were placed in metabolic  cages and volumen by minute of urine, percentage of relative diuresis,  and diuretic effect were also assessed. To variable, standart deviation  (ED), and variance coefficient were determined. In paired camples (t-paired),  to verify difference between groups, hypothesis test to comparison of means,  was applied and 95 % confidence interval (95 % CI) of diuretic effect was  assessed. We conclude that groups with or without this drug, aren’t different  and that CI of <I>Cymbopogon citratus</I>, which was given <I>ad libitum</I>,  is of m &Icirc; [0,73; 1,23] that is why there wasn’t diuretic effect.        <P>Key words: MEDICINAL PLANTS; ANTIHYPERTENSIVE AGENTS; LABORATORY ANIMAL;  RATS WITH CONSANGUINEOUS STRAINS; URINE.          ]]></body>
