Objetivo:  caracterizar el ritmo circadiano de los ictus isquémicos teniendo en cuenta el sexo, los territorios afectados y el nivel de conciencia que presentó el paciente durante el debut del evento.  Métodos:  el universo estuvo constituido por todos los pacientes con infarto cerebral que fueron incluidos en la base de datos perteneciente al Ensayo Internacional de Ictus. Se usaron las variables sexo, territorio de irrigación y nivel de conciencia. Para el estudio del ritmo circadiano se utilizó el paquete MetaCycle, perteneciente al software R.  Resultados:  la mayoría de las categorías presentaron un ritmo circadiano significativo (p&lt;0.05). La hora de debut, el sexo masculino, el sexo femenino, el territorio posterior, el territorio anterior y no inconscientes, presentaron fases de 10.45, 10.42, 10.35, 10.22, 10.67 y 10.46 respectivamente.  Conclusiones: el debut de los ictus isquémicos presenta un ritmo circadiano, al igual que las variables sexo, edad, territorio anterior, territorio posterior e inconscientes. La categoría inconsciente no presentó un patrón de 24 horas definido.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction:  cerebral infarction follows a circadian pattern, the cause of which has not yet been well established.  Objective:  to characterize the circadian rhythm of ischemic strokes taking into account the sex, the affected territories and the level of consciousness presented by the patient during the onset of the event.  Methods:  the universe consisted of all patients with cerebral infarction who were included in the database belonging to the International Stroke Trial. The variables sex, irrigation territory and level of consciousness were used. For the study of the circadian rhythm, the MetaCycle package, belonging to the R software, was used.  Results:  most of the categories presented a significant circadian rhythm (p &lt;0.05). The time of debut, the male sex, the female sex, the posterior territory, the anterior territory and non-unconscious presented phases of 10.45, 10.42, 10.35, 10.22, 10.67 and 10.46 respectively.  Conclusions:  the onset of ischemic strokes presents a circadian rhythm, as do the variables sex, age, anterior territory, posterior territory and unconscious. The unconscious category did not present a defined 24-hour pattern.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[RESUMO  Introdução:  o infarto cerebral segue um padrão circadiano, cuja causa ainda não está bem estabelecida.  Objetivo:  caracterizar o ritmo circadiano do AVC isquêmico, levando em consideração o sexo, os territórios afetados e o nível de consciência que o paciente apresentava durante o início do evento.  Métodos:  o universo foi constituído por todos os pacientes com infarto cerebral incluídos no banco de dados do International Stroke Trial. Foram utilizadas as variáveis &#8203;&#8203;sexo, território de irrigação e nível de consciência. Para o estudo do ritmo circadiano, foi utilizado o pacote MetaCycle, pertencente ao software R.  Resultados:  a maioria das categorias apresentou ritmo circadiano significativo (p &lt;0,05). O tempo de estreia, o sexo masculino, o sexo feminino, o território posterior, o território anterior e o não inconsciente apresentaram fases de 10,45, 10,42, 10,35, 10,22, 10,67 e 10,46 respectivamente.  Conclusões:  o aparecimento do AVC isquêmico apresenta ritmo circadiano, assim como as variáveis &#8203;&#8203;sexo, idade, território anterior, território posterior e inconsciente. A categoria inconsciente não apresentou um padrão definido de 24 horas.]]></p></abstract>
