Su causa principal es el estilo de vida no saludable, que incluye consumo excesivo de alimentos ricos en carbohidratos y grasas, ausencia de actividad física e ingestión abundante de bebidas alcohólicas, acompañada frecuentemente de sobrepeso y obesidad. En esta revisión bibliográfica se detalla la clasificación de la hipertrigliceridemia, el riesgo cardiovascular asociado y la conducta terapéutica con modificaciones de estilos de vida y fármacos reductores de lípidos, como estatinas, ezetimiba, inhibidores de PCSK9, fibratos, ácidos grasos omega-3 y niacina, para lo cual se realizó una revisión crítica de la bibliografía en PubMed, Scopus, MedicalKey y SciELO.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Hypertriglyceridemia is a common condition due to genetic alterations or primary and secondary to disease or medication. Its main cause is an unhealthy lifestyle that includes excessive consumption of food rich in carbohydrates and fats, lack of physical activity and heavy intake of alcoholic beverages, which is often accompanied by overweight and obesity. This literature review details the classification of hypertriglyceridemia, associated cardiovascular risk and therapeutic behavior with lifestyle modifications and lipid-lowering drugs such as statins, ezetimibe, PCSK9 inhibitors, fibrates, omega-3 fatty acids and niacin; for this purpose, a critical review of the literature was conducted in PubMed, Scopus, MedicalKey and SciELO.]]></p></abstract>
