<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S1561-30032022000100004&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S1561-30032022000100004&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S1561-30032022000100004&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN  Introducción:  La actual pandemia de COVID-19 ha provocado que la atención sanitaria se encuentra volcada hacia su contención, tratamiento, control y erradicación, pero debemos volver la mirada hacia otros programas, como la vigilancia y lucha antivectorial.  Objetivo:  Describir la aplicación de los principios del programa de vigilancia y lucha antivectorial antes y durante la pandemia COVID 19.  Métodos:  Estudio descriptivo observacional retrospectivo de los indicadores del programa de vigilancia y lucha antivectorial en el Policlínico Docente &#8220;Ramón López Peña&#8221;, Santiago de Cuba, durante los meses enero-junio de 2020 y enero-junio 2021. Se estudió el estado de los indicadores entomológicos y de vigilancia clínica en ambos periodos.  Resultados:  El índice de infestación fue muy superior al establecido en el Programa Nacional de Vigilancia y Lucha Antivectorial en ambos periodos, con una mayor focalidad durante la pandemia. El número de atenciones por síndrome febril inespecífico, ingresos, monosueros y reactivos, disminuyeron en el periodo de enero-junio del 2021 en 85, 78, 61 y 13 casos, respectivamente, en relación con igual periodo del año anterior. De los casos ingresados con síndrome febril inespecífico, 20 % terminó como caso sospechoso de COVID 19, y en 14,5 % de los pacientes se confirmó la enfermedad.  Conclusiones:  Con la compleja situación epidemiológica de la COVID&#8208;19, se ha descuidado la atención del programa de vigilancia y lucha antivectorial, traducido en incumplimiento de los principales indicadores vectoriales y una pobre vigilancia clínica de la arbovirosis.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction: The current pandemic of COVID-19 has caused healthcare services to focus on its containment, treatment, control and eradication; however, attention must be paid to other programs such as the Vector Control and Surveillance.  Objective:  To describe the implementation of the principles of the vector control and surveillance program before and during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Methods: A retrospective observational descriptive study on the indicators of the vector control and surveillance program at the Teaching Polyclinic &#8220;Ramón López Peña&#8221; in Santiago de Cuba, during January- June 2020 and January- June 2021. The state of the entomological and clinical surveillance indicators in both periods was studied.  Results:  The infestation rate was higher than that established in the National Vector Control and Surveillance Program for both periods with a higher focality during the pandemic. The number of patients reported with non-specific febrile syndrome, hospitalizations, monoserum and reagents decreased from January- June 2021 by 85, 78, 61 y 13 cases respectively, compared with the same period in 2020. 20% of the hospitalized cases with non-specific febrile syndrome were suspected cases of COVID-19, and the disease was confirmed in 14.5% of patients.  Conclusions: Due to the complex epidemiological situation caused by COVID-19, the Vector Control and Surveillance Program has been neglected. This translates into failure to comply with the main indicators for vector control and a poor clinical surveillance of arboviral diseases.]]></p></abstract>
