Objetivo: argumentar la importancia de la gestión administrativa y gerencia en salud pública, sus antecedentes y perspectivas actuales.  Métodos:  se realizó una revisión bibliográfica sistemática a partir de un total de 54 artículos recopilados luego de una exhaustiva investigación en bases de datos como Scopus, Scielo, Pubmed, Medline a través del motor de búsqueda Google Académico y los descriptores: administración pública, salud pública, gerencia en salud. La evaluación incluyó artículos, en idioma español e inglés, de revistas peruanas e internacionales, libros básicos de estas áreas del conocimiento. Se incluyeron en la investigación 35 artículos con menos de cinco años de publicados y de acceso abierto.  Resultados:  la incorporación consiente y personalizada de las habilidades gerenciales que mayor éxito han tenido en las empresas de negocio, ha sido la base fundamental por la que muchos sistemas y servicios de la salud han logrado modificar la imagen que los ciudadanos tenían de su trabajo y elevado la eficiencia.  Conclusiones:  dentro de todo el proceso de la gestión pública, la gestión administrativa es la que crea condiciones estratégicas, tácticas y operativas para que las sucesivas funciones de organización, dirección y control se conciban de una manera racional y constituyan entre todo el modo armónico en que se suponen se produzcan los hechos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction:  the raison d'être of health management is to achieve growth in quality and timeliness, to do more and better health using the least possible amount of resources.  Objective:  to argue the importance of administrative management and management in public health, its background and current perspectives.  Methods:  a systematic bibliographic review was carried out based on a total of 54 articles collected after an exhaustive research in databases such as Scopus, Scielo, Pubmed, Medline through the search engine Google Scholar and the descriptors: public administration, public health, health management. The evaluation included articles, in Spanish and English, from Peruvian and international journals and basic books in these areas of knowledge. Thirty-five articles less than five years old and open access were included in the research.  Results:  the conscious and personalized incorporation of the management skills that have been most successful in business enterprises has been the fundamental basis for many health systems and services to change the image that citizens had of their work and to increase efficiency.  Conclusions:  within the whole process of public management, administrative management is the one that creates strategic, tactical and operative conditions so that the successive functions of organization, direction and control are conceived in a rational way and constitute among all the harmonious way in which the facts are supposed to occur.]]></p></abstract>
