En este trabajo se realizan simulaciones con los modelos ADCIRC y SWAN, acoplados en una primera aproximación, de los huracanes Wilma 2005 y Gustav 2008 en su paso por el occidente del país, obteniendo valores de surgencia y de sobreelevación por rotura de la ola. Se realiza la validación de los datos de vientos utilizados y del oleaje simulados comparando con datos medidos por las boyas de la NOAA.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Due to the negative effects of hurricanes on the Isle of Cuba such as: sea penetration, coastal flooding, beach erosion and damages suffered by homes and buildings it is necessary to implement numerical models with the objective of establishing flood risk maps and evaluate the effects produced by them. In this work, simulations are carried out with the ADCIRC and SWAN models, coupled in a first approximation, of the hurricanes Wilma 2005 and Gustav 2008 in their passage through the western part of the country, obtaining upwelling and wave values due to the breaking wave. The validation of the data of winds used and of simulated waves is made by comparing with data measured by the NOAA buoys.]]></p></abstract>
