La misma propone una nueva metodología de enfoque para una gestión sustentable del agua basada en evidencia científica proveniente de ambos campos disciplinarios. En tanto, la ecohidráulica como un subcampo de esta, estudia los vínculos entre los procesos físicos, las variables hidráulicas determinantes del hábitat acuático y las respuestas ecológicas del ecosistema fluvial ante perturbaciones naturales y/o antrópicas. La ecohidrología actúa como un factor de aceleración para la transición de la ecología descriptiva, la conservación restrictiva y la gestión excesiva de los ecosistemas acuáticos, hacia la ecología analítica/funcional y la gestión y conservación creativa de las aguas dulces con una visión holística.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Ecohydrology is a new integrating science that involves research at the interface between hydrological and ecological sciences, focusing on the interaction between hydrology and biota. It proposes a new approach methodology for sustainable water management based on scientific evidence from both disciplinary fields. Meanwhile, ecohydraulic as a subfield of this, which studies the links between physical processes, the hydraulic variables that determine the aquatic habitat and the ecological responses of the fluvial ecosystem to natural and/or anthropogenic disturbances. Ecohydrology acts as an acceleration factor for the transition from descriptive ecology, restrictive conservation and excessive management of aquatic ecosystems, towards analytical/functional ecology and the management and creative conservation of freshwater with a holistic vision.]]></p></abstract>
