El objetivo de esta investigación fue caracterizar microbiológicamente el aire en el casco urbano de Calceta-Manabí en diferentes horas y días. Se establecieron 12 puntos de recolección de datos, el muestreo se realizó durante julio del 2019; se empleó el método de sedimentación en cajas de Petri para la recolección de muestras. Para bacterias se colocó agar nutriente y para hongos agar de extracto de malta. Las cajas Petri fueron colocadas abiertas a una altura de 1,50 m del suelo durante 30 minutos. Se encontró que existe alta concentración bacteriana en los puntos cercanos al mercado central; y menor concentración fúngica. Existe diferencia significativa en la frecuencia de monitoreo, donde la concentración media de UFC/m3 y UPC/m3 es mayor en los fines de semana.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The presence of pathogenic microorganisms in the air has a direct effect on human health. The objective of this research was to microbiologically characterize the air in the urban area of &#8203;&#8203;Calceta-Manabí at different times and days. 12 data collection points were established, the sampling was carried out during July 2019; The sedimentation method in Petri dishes was used to collect samples. Nutrient agar was used for bacteria and malt extract agar for fungi. The Petri dishes were placed open at a height of 1.50 m from the ground for 30 minutes. It was found that there is a high bacterial concentration in points close to the central market; and lower fungal concentration. There is a significant difference in the frequency of monitoring, where the average concentration of CFU / m3 and UPC / m3 is higher on weekends.]]></p></abstract>
