Objetivo: Identificar factores de riesgo relacionados con la muerte en pacientes ingresados por sepsis en cuidados intensivos.  Material y Métodos:  Se realizó un estudio observacional, analítico y prospectivo en pacientes ingresados con sepsis en la unidad de cuidados intensivos del Hospital Clínico Quirúrgico Docente Aleida Fernández Chardiet en los años 2018-2019. El grupo de estudio estuvo constituido por 224 pacientes.  Resultados: En el análisis bivariado se observó que los pacientes con cifras de lactato&#707; 2 mmol/L, la relación PaO2/FiO2&lt; 200, la DA-aO2&#707; 200, la creatinina&#707; 160 mmol/L y las cifras de colesterol&lt; 3,9 mmol/L presentaron mayor riesgo de muerte (p&lt; 0,001). Según el modelo de regresión logística multivariada las variables significativamente asociadas a la muerte fueron la ventilación invasiva (OR= 3,8; IC 95 % 1,7-8,6; p= 0,001), las cifras de lactato &#707;2 mmol/L (OR= 3,9; IC 95 % 1,9-8,2; p&#706; 0,001), los valores de PaO2/FiO2&lt; 200 (OR= 2,6; IC 95 % 1,2-2,7; p= 0,012), la creatinina&#707; 160 mmol/L (OR= 3,4; IC 95 % 1,4-8,1: p= 0,005), la edad&#8805; 60 años (OR= 3,1; IC95 % 1,4-6,8; p= 0,003) y la cifra de leucocitos&#707; 12x109 (OR= 2,2; IC 95 % 1,1-4,5; p= 0,031). La prueba de Hosmer-Lemeshow indicó una excelente calibración del modelo (p= 0,471) con un área bajo la curva de 0,864 (IC 95 % 0,817-0,912, p&lt; 0,000).  Conclusiones: Los factores que en estos pacientes se relacionaron con la muerte fueron la ventilación invasiva, el lactato &#707;2 mmol/L, la PaO2/FiO2&lt; 200, la creatinina&#707; 160 mmol/L, la edad&#8805; 60 años y las cifras de leucocitos&#707; 12x109.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction: Sepsis represents an indisputable and serious global health threat, with high mortality in intensive care units.  Objective: To identify risk factors related to death in patients admitted to the intensive care unit with sepsis.  Material and Methods:  An observational, analytical and prospective study was conducted in patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at "Aleida Fernandez Chardiet" Teaching Clinical Surgical Hospital from 2018 to 2019. The study group consisted of a total of 224 patients.  Results: In the bivariate analysis it was observed that patients with serum lactate&#707; 2 mmol/L, PaO2/FiO2 ratio&lt; 200, DA-aO2&#707; 200, serum creatinine&#707; 160 mmol/L, and total cholesterol levels&lt; 3,9 mmol/L were at a higher risk of death (p&lt; 0,001).
