El objetivo es establecer el efecto de un programa del método pilates sobre la fuerza de la zona core y la composición corporal en bailarines universitarios. Se realizó un estudio cuantitativo, pre experimental con pretest y postest. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que los bailarines estudiados no presentan riesgo cardiovascular y con respecto a la fuerza de la zona core, se incrementó de manera significativa. Se concluye que un programa del método pilates de 8 semanas de duración influye de manera positiva en la fuerza de la zona del core.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Dancers require increasing core strength as well as maintaining proper body composition to maintain good physical performance. The objective is to establish the effect of a Pilates method program on core strength and body composition in university dancers. A quantitative study was carried out, pre-experimental with pre-test and post-test. The results obtained show that the dancers studied do not present cardiovascular risk and with respect to the strength of the central zone, it increased significantly. It is concluded that a program of the pilates method of 8 weeks duration positively influences the strength of the core zone.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[RESUMO Os dançarinos precisam aumentar a força do core, bem como manter uma composição corporal adequada para manter um bom desempenho físico. O objetivo é estabelecer o efeito de um programa do método Pilates na força da zona central e composição corporal em bailarinos universitários. Foi realizado um estudo quantitativo, pré-experimental com pré-teste e pós-teste. Os resultados obtidos mostram que as bailarinas estudadas não apresentam risco cardiovascular e no que diz respeito à força da zona central, aumentou significativamente. Conclui-se que um programa de 8 semanas do método Pilates influencia positivamente na força da área do core.]]></p></abstract>
