El objetivo fue identificar logros y limitaciones en el desempeño profesional de los profesores de español como lengua extranjera en escuelas públicas de Jamaica. Se utilizó un enfoque metodológico mixto que integra métodos, escalas de medición y datos de orden cuantitativo y cualitativo. Los métodos, instrumentos y técnicas a utilizar fueron la encuesta, la observación y la entrevista. La investigación identifica limitaciones en el desempeño profesional de este docente, que están relacionadas con insuficiencias teórico-metodológicas, visibilizando las necesidades de perfeccionar el contenido de la superación para este profesor en el sistema educativo jamaicano.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This article refers to an investigation on the preparation of the teacher of Spanish as a foreign language for online teaching, within the framework of the study on the current state of the improvement of this teacher. The objective was to identify achievements and limitations in the professional performance of teachers of Spanish as a foreign language in public schools in Jamaica. A mixed methodological approach was used that integrates methods, measurement scales and quantitative and qualitative data. The methods, instruments and techniques to be used were survey, observation and interview. The research identifies limitations in the professional performance of this teacher, which are related to theoretical-methodological insufficiencies, making visible the needs to improve the content of the improvement for this teacher in the Jamaican education system.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo Este artigo refere-se a uma investigação sobre a preparação do professor de espanhol como língua estrangeira para o ensino online, no âmbito do estudo sobre o aperfeiçoamento desse professor. O objetivo foi identificar sucessos e limitações no desempenho profissional de professores de espanhol como língua estrangeira em escolas públicas da Jamaica. Foi utilizada uma abordagem metodológica mista que integra métodos, escalas de medição e dados quantitativos e qualitativos. Os métodos, instrumentos e técnicas a utilizar foram o inquérito, a observação e a entrevista. A pesquisa identifica limitações no desempenho profissional desse professor, que estão relacionadas às insuficiências teórico-metodológicas, tornando visíveis as necessidades de aprimoramento do conteúdo de aperfeiçoamento desse professor no sistema educacional jamaicano.]]></p></abstract>
