Se determinaron los modos mecánicos naturales de oscilación del sistema para cualquier régimen de trabajo anterior a la aparición del fenómeno. Se compararon las oscilaciones producidas con las existentes al fallar un pistón de estas unidades. Se demostró la existencia de modos mecánicos de baja oscilación asociados a las unidades ubicadas en la parte occidental del país, con una frecuencia cercana a 1 Hz, verificándose que las amplitudes de estas oscilaciones podían provocar la operación falsa de la protección contra fallas del pistón. Como resultado, se relacionan las recomendaciones realizadas para resolver los problemas detectados así como los resultados obtenidos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The research carried out to determine the causes of disconnection during the synchronization and load taking of some 1 MW diesel engines from the Guascor firm, due to poor operation of the piston failure protection, is presented. The natural mechanical modes of oscillation of the system were determined for any working regime prior to the appearance of the phenomenon. The oscillations produced were compared with those existing when a piston failed in these units. The existence of low oscillation mechanical modes associated with the units located in the western part of the country was demonstrated, with a frequency close to 1 Hz, verifying that the amplitudes of these oscillations could cause the false operation of the protection against piston failure. As a result, the recommendations made to solve the problems detected and the results obtained are listed.]]></p></abstract>
