Estas acerías necesitan de una tensión estable y elevada para poder fundir de forma eficiente y al mismo tiempo, son un consumidor poderoso de potencia activa para el Sistema Electroenergético Nacional. El objetivo de este trabajo, fue la realización de un estudio de las condiciones de la empresa Antillana de Acero, donde se expusieron las principales causas que afectan su productividad y las afectaciones que ocasionan estas a nuestro SEN. Se estudiaron tres variantes, como solución a estos problemas y se seleccionó una de ellas desde un punto de vista técnico, teniendo como enfoque aumentar la productividad de esta empresa a partir de los resultados obtenidos en las simulaciones.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Steel mills with electric arc furnaces, such as the José Martí company commonly known as Antillana de Acero; they are industries that use the heat produced by a controlled short circuit to obtain the steel. These steel mills need a stable and high voltage to be able to melt efficiently and at the same time, they are a powerful consumer of active power for the National Electroenergetic System. The objective of this work was the realization of a study of the conditions of the Antillana de Acero company, where the main causes that affect their productivity and the effects that these cause to our SEN were exposed. Three variants were studied, as a solution to these problems and one of them was selected from a technical point of view, with the focus of increasing the productivity of this company from the results obtained in the simulations.]]></p></abstract>
