Para reconhecer as estratégias qualitativas, quantitativas e mistas utilizadas nas Ciências Sociais com ênfase nas não experimentais, foi realizado um estudo de revisão bibliográfico sistematizado, utilizando o método de análise de conteúdo e hermenêutico. Entre os principais achados está a abordagem quantitativa-qualitativa como alternativa metodológica de complementação baseada no uso de variados métodos e técnicas que buscam maior controle das variáveis e correcção de erros típicos de cada método por meio da triangulação metodológica mutuamente validadora. Há uma relação estreita entre pesquisa social e pedagógica, evidenciada pela singularidade deste último: externalidade dos eventos sociais, complexidade dos fenómenos humanos, influência do tempo, dificuldade de estabelecer projecções, e transferência dialéctica de valores no processo de investigação.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT In recent times, Social Sciences research has been characterized by the use of varied methodologies. In order to recognize the qualitative, quantitative and mixed strategies used in the Social Sciences with emphasis on the non-experimental ones, a systematic bibliographic review-type study was carried out through the methods, content analysis and hermeneutics. Among the main findings is the quantitative-qualitative approach as a complementary methodological alternative based on the use of multi-methods and techniques that seeks greater control of the variables and correction of biases inherent to each method through mutually validating triangulation. There is a close relationship between social and pedagogical research, evidenced by the singularities of the latter: exteriority of social facts, complexity of human phenomena, influence of time, difficulty in establishing projections, and dialectical transfer of values in the research process.]]></p></abstract>
