Se llevó a cabo un estudio longitudinal cuasiexperimental con grupo cuasi control, durante 6 semanas en un grupo de 20 personas (15 hombres, 5 mujeres) con una edad 28.50 ± 5.74 años; que llevaban entrenando más de 6 meses. Se evaluó la hipertrofia muscular mediante las medidas antropométricas con la ayuda del InBody 270, la fuerza por medio del test del 1RM, en tres grupos musculares (brazo, pecho, piernas) a través de una serie de ejercicios para cada uno (Curl de bíceps, Press de pecho, Press de piernas) realizado dos veces por semana, en el grupo experimental un período de descanso de 3 minutos y grupo control 1 minuto. Se encontró diferencia en las medidas del grupo experimental (porcentaje de grasa p:0.027, bíceps contraído p:0.027: bíceps relajado p:0.001, fuerza en pecho p:0.001, piernas: 0.04) en relación al grupo control. Se concluye que modificando el tiempo de descanso de 3 minutos entre series de ejercicios con una carga del 70 % del 1RM si existe diferencia en el incremento de fuerza e hipertrofia muscular.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The objective of the study was to determine if the influence of a longer rest time between series of exercises improves muscle strength and hypertrophy. A quasi-experimental longitudinal study with a quasi-control group was carried out for 6 weeks in a group of 20 people (15 men, 5 women) with an age of 28.50 ± 5.74 years; who had been training for more than 6 months. Muscle hypertrophy was evaluated through anthropometric measurements with the help of the InBody 270, strength through the 1RM test, in three muscle groups (arms, chest, legs) through a series of exercises for each one (Biceps Curl, Chest Press, Leg Press) performed twice a week, in the experimental group a rest period of 3 minutes and control group 1 minute. Differences were found in the measurements of the experimental group (fat percentage p:0.027, contracted biceps p:0.027: relaxed biceps p:0.001, chest strength p:0.001, legs: 0.04) in relation to the control group. It is concluded that modifying the rest time of 3 minutes between series of exercises with a load of 70% of the 1RM if there is a difference in the increase in strength and muscle hypertrophy.]]></p></abstract>
