Se realizó un estudio de caso de corte cuali-cuantitativo, exploratorio, transversal y observacional para el diagnóstico de las habilidades sociales y la convivencia escolar en 32 niños de educación inicial (15 niños y 17 niñas de 5 años de edad), de la Unidad Educativa Franklin Delano Roosevelt de la ciudad de Portoviejo, provincia de Manabí, Ecuador. Se empleó el método de observación participante y el diagnóstico de las habilidades sociales y la convivencia escolar se realizó utilizando dos guías de observación, que fueron validadas por criterio de expertos, determinando además su fiabilidad interna mediante el coeficiente alfa de Cronbach. Los sujetos evaluados se ubicaron mayoritariamente entre los niveles altos y medios de desarrollo de las habilidades sociales (94 %) y convivencia escolar (91 %), no encontrándose diferencias significativas entre los sexos. Así mismo, se encontraron correlaciones moderadas entre la mayoría de las dimensiones y entre las dos variables analizadas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the development of social skills and school coexistence in early education children. A qualitative-quantitative, exploratory, cross-sectional, and observational case study was conducted to diagnose social skills and school coexistence in 32 early education children (15 boys and 17 girls, aged 5 years) from the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Educational Unit in the city of Portoviejo, Manabí province, Ecuador. The participant observation method was employed, and the diagnosis of social skills and school coexistence was carried out using two observation guides that were validated by experts, also determining their internal reliability using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The evaluated subjects were predominantly placed in the high and medium levels of development for social skills (94%) and school coexistence (91%), with no significant differences found between genders. Additionally, moderate correlations were found among the majority of dimensions and between the two analyzed variables.]]></p></abstract>
