Se llevó a cabo una revisión y análisis de la literatura publicada al respecto, buscando establecer analogías entre el desarrollo de la agricultura urbana y suburbana en el municipio de Moa y las potencialidades reales de bioacumulación de metales pesados. No obstante a la escasez de estudios específicos para Moa, la literatura disponible sugiere que existe una posibilidad real de contaminación de vegetales y hortalizas por metales pesados debido a la movilidad de estos elementos en el suelo, por lo que es un imperativo realizar estudios específicos y desarrollar estrategias adecuadas de mitigación para proteger la salud pública y el medio ambiente a partir de una estrategia de fito-remediación adaptada a las condiciones de Moa.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Urban agriculture can present risks to human health and the environment when carrying it out on contaminated soils. This study reviewed and analyzed the literature published in this regard with the purpose of establishing analogies between the development of urban and suburban agriculture in Moa municipality and the real potential for heavy metals bioaccumulation. Despite the lack of specific studies related this issue in Moa, there is available literature suggesting that there is a real possibility of contaminating vegetables by heavy metals due to the mobility of these elements in the soil. For that reason, it is imperative to carry out specific studies and developing appropriate mitigation strategies to protect people&#8217;s health and the environment from a soil phytoremediation strategy adapted to conditions in Moa municipality.]]></p></abstract>
