In order to comply with the proposed objective, the theoretical-methodological bases related to the subject were established and the relevant computer tools, SolidWorks and Termotransf, were used. These aspects made possible to carry out the modeling and to establish the design parameters of a solar dryer for forage seeds. Among the main results obtained, the thermal and kinetic modeling of the design conceived was carried out, considering the porous medium (layer of seeds to be dried) and without considering the porous medium. An increase in temperature and a pressure drop, inside the proposed installation were observed. The conceived forage seed solar dryer reached a total heat flow of 1.146 kW. Considering the capacity of seeds to be processed, the estimated drying time and the dimensions of the installation, it was demonstrated that, the proposed design, works as a drying installation.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN La presente investigación se orientó en establecer los fundamentos para la modelación y diseño de un secador solar de semillas forrajeras. Para el cumplimiento del objetivo propuesto se establecieron las bases teórico-metodológicas referentes a la temática y se utilizaron las herramientas informáticas SolidWorks y Termotransf, estos aspectos posibilitaron realizar la modelación y establecer los parámetros de diseño de un secador solar de semillas forrajeras. Entre los principales resultados obtenidos se realizó la modelación térmica y cinética del diseño concebido, considerándose el medio poroso (capa de semillas a secar) y sin considerar el medio poroso; observándose un incremento de la temperatura y una caída de presión, en el interior de la instalación propuesta, para ambas consideraciones respecto a medio poroso y sin medio poroso. El secador solar de semillas forrajeras concebido, alcanzó un flujo de calor total de 1,146 kW, demostrándose que el diseño propuesto, considerando la capacidad de semillas a procesar, el tiempo estimado de secado y las dimensiones de la instalación, funciona como una instalación de secado.]]></p></abstract>
