The wear generates considerable losses of materials, resources and time, with the consequent reduction of the production, leads to the loss of a large quantity of means for its repair, as well as in the elaboration or acquisition of new elements. In this work, an approach towear simulation by numerical methods is made, specifically, the Finite Element Method (FEM) and the Discrete Elements Method (DEM), approaching, in a general way, the benefits of both methods in the analysis of the physical phenomenon, as well as their combination to obtain a closer approximation to the study of contact between bodies.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN La maquinaria agrícola tiene un enemigo que atenta contra su durabilidad y conservación: el desgaste.El desgaste genera considerables pérdidas de materiales, recursos y tiempo, con la consiguiente disminución de la producción, conlleva a la pérdida de gran cantidad de medios para su reparación, así como en la elaboración o adquisición de nuevos elementos.En este trabajo se realiza un acercamiento a la simulación del desgaste por métodos numéricos, específicamente el Método de los Elementos Finitos (MEF) y el Método de los Elementos Discretos (MED), abordando de manera general las bondades de ambos métodos en el análisis del fenómeno físico, así como su combinación para obtener una mayor aproximación al estudio del contacto entre los cuerpos.]]></p></abstract>
