The present work was carried out with the objective of simulating the performance of the double suction centrifugal pump BCP 125-420 by means of the Computational Fluid Dynamics method. For this, the methodological aspects to follow for the simulation and evaluation of the turbo machine operation were established using Computational Fluid Dynamics techniques and ANSYS Workbench software in version 14.5. All of this was done following the methodological recommendations referred in the literature related to the modeling of these devices. Among the main results, there is the value of the height predicted through the simulation and the real height of the pump, with magnitudes of 81,65 and 81,83 mwc, respectively; values that exceeded the 80 mca initially foreseen for the design and that allowed concluding that the error between the real height of the pump and the one obtained through the simulation did not exceed 1%, which indicated the reliability in performance of the BCP 125-420 double suction centrifugal pump under the operation conditions studied.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN Las bombas centrífugas de doble aspiración se utilizan ampliamente en aplicaciones industriales y agrícolas, ya que su caudal es el doble que el de las bombas de aspiración simple con el mismo diámetro de impulsor. El presente trabajo se efectúo con el objetivo de simular mediante el método Dinámica Fluido Computacional el desempeño de la bomba centrífuga de doble succión BCP 125-420. Para ello se establecen los aspectos metodológicos a seguir para la simulación y evaluación del funcionamiento de la turbo máquina mediante las técnicas Dinámica Fluido Computacional a través de la utilización del software ANSYS Workbench en su versión 14.5. Todo ello se efectuó siguiendo las recomendaciones metodológicas referidas en la literatura relacionada con la modelación de estos dispositivos. Dentro de los principales resultados destacan el valor de la altura predicha mediante la simulación y altura real de la bomba, con magnitudes de 81,65 y 81,83 mca respectivamente; valores que superan los 80 mca previstos inicialmente para el diseño, concluyéndose que el error entre la altura real de la bomba y la obtenida mediante la simulación no supera el 1 %. Dicho resultado indica la fiabilidad en el desempeño de la bomba centrífuga de doble succión BCP 125-420 bajo condiciones explotativas.]]></p></abstract>
