Puede ser usada como planta para macetas y jardín, tanto en exteriores como interiores. Se considera la especie más vendida después de las orquídeas en Europa y América donde alcanza altas cifras de plantas comercializadas y de recaudaciones monetarias. Por su importancia son necesarios métodos que permitan obtener grandes cantidades de individuos a fin de satisfacer las demandas existentes en el mercado. Lo anterior pudiera ser posible a través del empleo de la biotecnología vegetal. A pesar de que se encuentran trabajos enfocados en la propagación de esta especie a nivel de laboratorio, no ha sido descrito aun una metodología para su micropropagación. En el presente trabajo se desarrolló un protocolo para la propagación in vitro de K. blossfeldiana a partir de segmentos nodales.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Kalanchoe blossfeldiana Poelln. is a plant with great ornamental value due to its growth habit and flowering. It can be used as a pot plant and garden, both outdoors and indoors. It is considered the best-selling species after orchids in Europe and America, reaching high numbers of commercialized plants and monetary incomes. Due to their importance, methods for obtaining large numbers of individuals, in order to satisfy the existing demands on the market are necessary. This could be possible through the use of plant biotechnology. Although there are studies focused on the propagation of this species at the laboratory level, a methodology for its micropropagation has not been described yet. In the present work, a protocol for in vitro propagation of K. blossfeldiana from nodal segments was developed.]]></p></abstract>
