Se realizó un estudio documental desde una perspectiva cualitativa. Como resultados se recogen datos que evidencian la sensible pérdida de los idiomas ancestrales en el país, lo cual constituye una alerta, que reclama la necesidad urgente de mejorar este importante tipo de educación.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The article is an approach to the emergence and organization of intercultural bilingual education in Ecuador focusing on achievements, difficulties and challenges from an intercultural look. The study was completed by analyzing documents from a qualitative perspective. The findings provide collected data demonstrating the significant loss of ancestral languages in the country as an alert calling for the urgent need to improve this important type of education.]]></p></abstract>
