<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2079-34802018000100025&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2079-34802018000100025&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2079-34802018000100025&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract A study was conducted to characterize the in situ ruminal degradability of the dry matter and organic matter of new drought-tolerant varieties of Cenchrus purpureus (CT-601, CT-603 and CT-605) at different regrowth ages (60, 80, 100 and 120 days), cultivated in a dry and degraded ecosystem by the intense drought, characteristic of Valle del Cauto, Granma, Cuba. Two Creole cows of 450 ± 10 kg of live weight cannulated in rumen were used. The bags were introduced in the rumen during 0, 4, 6, 8,12, 24, 48 and 72 hours. The parameters of the dry matter degradability showed that, for the age of 60, 80 and 120 days, the highest values corresponded to the variety CT-603 and at 80 and 100 days the organic matter degradability for this same variety. The CT-601, at 100 d of regrowth, showed the highest values of dry matter degradation. For the organic matter degradation at 120 d, low values in all parameters were observed. The degradation percentages were higher than 50 % for dry matter, and for organic matter they were close to this value. The In situ ruminal degradability of the dry matter and organic matter of the whole plant of the new varieties of Cenchrus purpureus maintains the ruminal fermentation pattern of tropical grasses.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Se realizó un estudio para caracterizar la degradabilidad ruminal in situ de la materia seca y materia orgánica de nuevas variedades de Cenchrus purpureus, tolerantes a la sequía (CT-601, CT-603 y CT-605) en diferentes edades de rebrote (60, 80, 100 y 120 días), cultivadas en un ecosistema seco y degradado por la intensa sequía, característico del Valle del Cauto, Granma, Cuba. Se utilizaron dos vacas criollas de 450 ± 10 kg de peso vivo, canuladas en rumen. Las bolsas se introdujeron en el rumen durante 0, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24, 48 y 72 horas. Los parámetros de la degradabilidad de la materia seca mostraron que, para la edad de 60, 80 y 120 días, los mayores valores correspondieron a la variedad CT-603, y a los 80 y 100 días la degradabilidad de la materia orgánica para esta misma variedad. La CT-601, a los 100 d de rebrote, mostró los mayores valores de la degradación de la materia seca. Para la degradación de la materia orgánica a los 120 d, se observaron valores bajos en todos los parámetros. Los porcentajes de degradación fueron superiores al 50 % para la materia seca, y para la materia orgánica fueron cercanos a este valor. La degradabilidad ruminal In situ de la materia seca y materia orgánica de la planta íntegra de las nuevas variedades de Cenchrus purpureus mantiene el patrón de fermentación ruminal de las gramíneas tropicales.]]></p></abstract>
