The sampling took place in plots of 0.5 ha, to which a uniformity cut of one meter above the soil, without irrigation or fertilization, was applied. Contents of dry matter, crude protein, neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber, acid detergent lignin, cellulose, hemicellulose, cellular content, P, Ca, ashes and organic matter were determined. An analysis of variance according to the experimental design was applied. Crude protein decreased with age in both seasons, showing significant differences among all ages. The best values were obtained at 60 days of regrowth (22.79 and 24.05 % in rainy and dry periods, respectively). A similar performance was demonstrated by dry matter digestibility, metabolizable energy and total digestible nutrients, while neutral detergent fiber increase with age with the highest values at 180 days (34.41 and 31.97 % in rainy and dry periods, respectively). It was evident that with the increase of plant maturity, there is a decrease of its nutritional quality, mainly due to the increase of neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent lignin, and decrease of crude protein, dry matter digestibility and total digestible nutrients, among other aspects. It is suggested to study lower regrowth ages, as well as biomass yields and secondary metabolites.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Mediante un diseño bloque al azar con cuatro replicas se evaluó el efecto de la edad de rebrote (60, 90, 120, 150 y 180 días) en la composición bromatológica del follaje de Moringa oleifera en ambos períodos estacionales del año. Se muestreó en parcelas de 0.5 ha, a la cual se aplicó un corte de uniformidad a un metro del suelo, sin riego, ni fertilización. Se determinaron los contenidos de MS, PB, FDN, FDA, LAD, celulosa (CEL), hemicelulosa (HCEL), contenido celular (CC), P, Ca, ceniza y MO. Se aplicó análisis de varianza según diseño experimental. La proteína bruta disminuyó con la edad para ambos períodos, mostrando diferencias significativas entre todas las edades. Los mejores valores se obtuvieron a los 60 días de rebrote (22.79 y 24.05 % en los períodos lluvioso y poco lluvioso, respectivamente); similar comportamiento presentó la DMS, EM y TND, mientras que la FDN aumentó con la edad con los mayores valores a los 180 días (34.41 y 31.97 % en los periodos lluvioso y poco lluvioso, respectivamente). Se evidenció que en la medida que se incrementa la madurez de la planta disminuye su calidad nutritiva determinado, principalmente, por el aumento de la FDN y LAD, y diminución de la PB, DMS y TDN, entre otros aspectos. Se sugiere estudiar menores edades de rebrote, así como los rendimientos de biomasa y metabolitos secundarios.]]></p></abstract>
