Basilisk; with the objective of studying their performance under dry conditions and without fertilization, subjected to two grazing intensities (GI): GI1 = 75 and GI2 = 150 LAU ha-1 day-1, during the rainy period. It was worked with 20 crossbred Siboney dairy cows between the second and third lactation (10 animals treatment-1), the animals grazed 15 hours a day. The areas under study showed an increase (P &lt;0.05) in the Brachiaria proportion, in 7.9 and 13.2 %, for 75 and 150 LAU ha-1 day-1, respectively. The areas subjected to the highest intensity, showed higher availability of DM ha-1 paddock-1 (P &lt;0.01) in 39.9 % (1 831.05 vs 2 562.11 kg DM ha-1 rotation-1, for 75 and 150 LAU ha-1 day-1, respectively); likewise, the grass yield was favored (P &lt;0.05) in 23.9 % when it was submitted to 150 LAU ha-1 day-1. There were not differences in the bromatological composition of the grass. The obtained results, under these conditions, show that the Basilisk grass variety, subjected to grazing intensity of 150 LAU ha-1 day-1, maintains higher stability and likewise showed higher availability and grass yield, not affecting the bromatological quality of it.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Se desarrolló un sistema de pastoreo simulado, utilizando un total de 2,66 hectáreas, establecidas con la variedad Brachiaria decumbens vc. Basilisk; con el objetivo de estudiar su comportamiento en condiciones de secano y sin fertilización, sometidos a dos intensidades de pastoreo (IP): IP1= 75 e IP2=150 UGM ha-1 día-1, durante el periodo lluvioso. Se trabajó con 20 vacas lecheras mestizas de Siboney entre la segunda y la tercera lactancia (10 animales tratamiento-1), los animales pastaron 15 horas diarias. Las áreas en estudio, mostraron incremento (P&lt;0.05) en la proporción de Brachiaria, en 7.9 y 13.2 %, para 75 y 150 UGM ha-1 día-1, respectivamente. Las áreas sometidas a la mayor intensidad, mostraron mayor disponibilidad de MS ha-1 cuartón-1 (P&lt;0.01) en 39.9% (1 831.05 vs 2 562.11 kg MS ha-1 rotación-1, para 75 y 150 UGM ha-1 día-1, respectivamente); de igual forma el rendimiento del pasto se favoreció (P&lt;0.05) en 23.9% cuando fue sometido a 150 UGM ha-1 día-1. No se mostraron diferencias en la composición bromatológica del pasto. Los resultados obtenidos, en estas condiciones, demuestran que la variedad de pasto Basilisk, sometida a intensidad de pastoreo de 150 UGM ha-1 día-1, mantiene mayor estabilidad y de igual forma mostró mayor disponibilidad y rendimiento del pasto, no afectándose la calidad bromatológica del mismo.]]></p></abstract>
