<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2079-34802019000200189&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2079-34802019000200189&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2079-34802019000200189&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Using a randomized block design with four replications, clones of Cenchrus purpureus (CT-6, CT-9, CT-13, CT-15, CT-24 and CT-28) obtained by in vitro tissue culture were evaluated and compared with their progenitor (CT-115) in typical red Ferralitic soil, for two years without irrigation and fertilization. In both evaluation years during the seasonal periods the height differed (P&lt;0.001) between the clones and the CT-28 surpassed the CT-115 was highlighted. There were differences (P &lt;0.001) in the percent of DM and their values varied in narrow range (17-23 % and 19-21 % in the dry and rainy season, respectively). With the exception of CT-24, the rest of clones showed leaves contents higher than 50 % and differed among them, but the highest value (64.88 %, P &lt;0.001) was showed by CT-28 during the rainy season. The leaves length varied (P &lt;0.0001) between clones and CT-9 was highlighted in both years (73.73 and 84.23 cm for the dry and rainy season, respectively for the first year and 68.6 and 76.7 cm for similar stages of the second year). Similar response pattern was obtained in the leaf width. The leaf area also differed between clones and the highest values were recorded in the rainy season of both years. There were significant differences between the clones in the seasonal and annual DM yield and the clones CT-9, CT-15, CT-24 and CT-28 were highlighted. There were also significant differences in the population of the clones at the beginning and end of the experiment, but when comparing these two stages there were not variation and the values ranged between 5.43 and 9.49 bunches/5m. In general terms, the studied indicators varied when comparing the studied years. There is a group of clones with favorable characteristics for forage production, where CT-9 and CT-28 were highlighted. Future studies using strategic fertilization and irrigation of promising clones are suggested.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN Mediante un diseño de bloques al azar con cuatro réplicas se evaluaron clones de Cenchrus purpureus (CT- 6, CT- 9, CT- 13, CT- 15, CT- 24 y CT- 28) obtenidos por cultivo de tejidos in vitro y se compararon con su progenitor (CT- 115) en suelo Ferralítico rojo típico, durante dos años sin riego ni fertilización. En ambos años de evaluación durante los períodos estacionales la altura difirió (P&lt;0.001) entre los clones y se destacó el CT-28 que superó al CT-115. Hubo diferencias (P&lt;0.001) en el por ciento de MS y sus valores variaron en estrecho rango (17-23 % y 19-21 % en el período poco lluvioso y lluvioso, respectivamente). Con excepción del CT-24, el resto de los clones mostró contenidos de hojas superiores a 50 % y difirieron entre sí, pero el mayor valor (64.88%, P&lt;0.001) lo presentó el CT-28 durante el período lluvioso. La longitud de las hojas varió (P&lt;0.0001) entre clones y se destacó CT-9 en ambos años (73.73 y 84.23 cm para el período poco lluvioso y lluvioso, respetivamente del primer año y 68.6 y 76.7 cm para similares etapas del segundo año). Similar patrón de respuesta se obtuvo en el ancho de la hoja. El área foliar también difirió entre clones y los mayores valores se registraron en el período lluvioso de ambos años. Hubo diferencias significativas entre los clones en el rendimiento estacional y anual de MS y se destacaron los clones CT-9, CT-15, CT- 24 y CT-28. También hubo diferencias significativas en la población de los clones al inicio y al final del experimento, pero al comparar estas dos etapas no se apreció variación y los valores oscilaron entre 5.43 y 9.49 macollas/5m. En términos generales, los indicadores estudiados variaron al comparar los años estudiados. Se dispone de un grupo de clones con características favorables para la producción de forraje, donde se destacaron CT-9 y CT-28. Se sugieren futuros estudios empleando fertilización estratégica y riego de los clones promisorios.]]></p></abstract>
