For developing this research, data from a study developed in the Department of Biophysiological Sciences of the Institute of Animal Science were used. The effect of different origins and/or varieties of Moringa oleifera on the ruminal microbial population was evaluated. A completely randomized design was applied, associated with a simple variance analysis model, with a 6x3 factorial arrangement. Eighteen treatments were established, which were related to the origin or varieties of Moringa oleifera and three times, with six repetitions each. Theoretical assumptions of the analysis of variance for the original variables homogeneity and normality of errors were verified. When they were not fulfilled, the mixed generalized linear model was used as an alternative to the analysis, and if not, the mixed linear model, with the help of GLIMMIX and MIXED procedure of SAS. In both models, treatment, hour and interaction treatment per hour were considered as fixed effects, and nested repetition within hours was considered as random. Results showed that the mean square of the error was low, when mixed procedures were used. Standard errors also decreased, which contributes to greater precision in results. From this perspective, these models are proposed for the analysis of related variables and counting experiments in the ruminal microbial population.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen El trabajo tiene como objetivo proponer el modelo lineal mixto y generalizado mixto para el análisis de un experimento de la microbiología del rumen. Para el desarrollo de la investigación, se usaron datos de un estudio desarrollado en el Departamento de Ciencias Biofisiológicas del Instituto de Ciencia Animal. Se evaluó el efecto de diferentes procedencias y/o variedades de Moringa oleifera en la población microbiana ruminal. Se aplicó un diseño completamente aleatorizado, asociado a un modelo de análisis de varianza simple, con arreglo factorial 6x3. Se establecieron 18 tratamientos, que estuvieron relacionados con las procedencias o variedades de Moringa oleífera y tres horarios, cada uno con seis repeticiones. Se verificaron los supuestos teóricos del análisis de varianza para las variables originales homogeneidad y normalidad de los errores. Cuando se incumplieron, se utilizó como alternativa de análisis el modelo lineal generalizado mixto y, en caso contrario, el lineal mixto, con ayuda del procedimiento GLIMMIX y MIXED del SAS. En ambos modelos, se consideraron como efectos fijos tratamiento, hora e interacción tratamiento por hora, y como aleatorio, la repetición anidada dentro de horas. Los resultados mostraron que el cuadrado medio del error fue menor, cuando se utilizaron los procedimientos mixtos. También disminuyeron los errores estándar, lo que contribuye a mayor precisión en los resultados. Desde esta perspectiva, se proponen estos modelos para el análisis de variables relacionadas y experimentos de conteo en la población microbiana del rumen.]]></p></abstract>
