In the microbiological analysis, populations of lactic acid bacteria, yeasts, fungi and pathogenic microorganisms were evaluated. A descriptive analysis was applied for data processing. Glutamic acid, leucine, proline, aspartic acid and alanine were predominant in the amino acid pattern. Dry Vitafert showed high concentration of lactic acid bacteria (15 x 107 CFU.g-1) and absence of pathogenic microorganisms. Concentration of individual short chain fatty acids was low and the pH value was 5.41. Results indicate the potential of dry Vitafert for its use in animal feed, due to its chemical composition and concentration of lactic acid bacteria.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Para caracterizar química y microbiológicamente una variante tecnológica del aditivo Vitafert, destinada a la producción animal, se determinó la composición química y el perfil de aminoácidos del Vitafert seco. En el análisis microbiológico se evaluaron las poblaciones de bacterias ácido lácticas, levaduras, hongos y microorganismos patógenos. Se aplicó un análisis descriptivo para el procesamiento de los datos. En el patrón aminoacídico predominó el ácido glutámico, leucina, prolina, ácido aspártico y alanina. El Vitafert seco mostró alta concentración de bacterias ácido lácticas (15 x 107 UFC.g-1) y ausencia de microorganismos patógenos. La concentración de ácidos grasos de cadena corta individuales resultó baja y el valor de pH fue de 5.41. Los resultados indican las potencialidades del Vitafert seco para su utilización en la alimentación animal, dadas por su composición química y concentración de bacterias ácidos lácticos.]]></p></abstract>
