The information comprised the interval from 2011 to 2018, and corresponded to the weight at weaning (8 months) and the final live weight of the test (18 months of age), their breeding values and a selection index that combined both characteristics. The cost sheet of buffalo activity of the enterprise was made, with regard to performance testing. Individual benefit or individual economic merit was determined using two sales prices: 11.20 and 6.40 cuban pesos/kg of final live weight. Proposals for steer prices were made at the end of the performance testing, according to individual economic merit. Three different calculation methods were used. Data processing was carried out using SAS 2013. Multiple regressions were obtained between benefits and individual breeding values, as well as with the selection index, from the consideration of the two prices. The linearity that exists between the benefits and the breeding values that justify the selection of animals with greater merit was showed, as well as the usefulness of the evaluation by index. Higher values were associated with higher benefits, particularly when the higher price per kilogram of live weight was used. The importance of evaluating steers in performance testing for individual benefit was highlighted, and it was considered that their sale prices should be associated with their final live weight, breeding values and accuracy of the index used to determine individual economic merit.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Se utilizó información de pruebas de comportamiento de búfalos mestizos Buffalypso x Carabao, proveniente de una empresa genética en Cuba. La información comprendió el intervalo de 2011 a 2018, y correspondió al peso al destete (8 meses) y al peso vivo final de la prueba (18 meses de edad), sus valores genéticos y un índice de selección que combinó ambas características. Se realizó la ficha de costo de la actividad bubalina de la empresa, en lo que respecta a pruebas de comportamiento. Se determinó el beneficio individual o el mérito económico individual, utilizando dos precios de venta: 11.20 y 6.40 CUP/kg del peso vivo final. Se hicieron propuestas de precios de los toretes al terminar la prueba de comportamiento, de acuerdo con el mérito económico individual. Se utilizaron tres métodos diferentes de cálculo. El procesamiento de los datos se efectuó mediante el SAS 2013. Se obtuvieron las regresiones múltiples entre los beneficios y los valores genéticos individuales, así como con el índice de selección, a partir de la consideración de los dos precios. Se evidenció la linealidad que existe entre los beneficios y los valores genéticos que justifican la selección de animales con mayor mérito, así como la utilidad de la evaluación por índice. Los valores mayores estuvieron asociados a beneficios mayores, particularmente cuando se utilizó el mayor precio del kilogramo de peso vivo. Se destacó la importancia de evaluar los toretes en pruebas de comportamiento por beneficio individual, y se consideró que sus precios de venta deben estar asociados a su peso vivo final, valores genéticos y precisión del índice utilizado al determinar el mérito económico individual.]]></p></abstract>
