That is the reason for which a classification of the inventory of medicines in a pharmaceutical enterprise is proposed, by using three methods, the multicriteria ABC classi&#64257;cation, the risk in supply-use value matrix, and the gross profit from sales-average age of inventory matrix. Quantitative and qualitative criteria were used to develop these methods; the first ones were used for measuring their economic impact on the organization, and the second ones were used for the assessment of medicines from a logistic and medical points of view. The criteria selected were studied in 487 medicines, considering a period of five years. The pharmaceuticals were classified according the three methods selected and a series of strategic actions were proposed by considering the interrelation of the three methods applied, in order to improve their management.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN La clasificación multicriterio de los medicamentos permite a la organización llevar a cabo una serie de acciones que contribuyen a la satisfacción de las necesidades de los pacientes, a reducir el costo en el manejo de estos bienes y a su correcta planificación y control; lo que contribuye favorablemente al cumplimiento de sus objetivos. En el presente trabajo se propuso la clasificación del inventario de medicamentos de una empresa farmacéutica, a partir de tres métodos, el ABC multicriterio, la matriz riesgo en el suministro - valor de uso y la matriz costo de ventas - ciclo de inventario. Para su desarrollo se utilizaron criterios del orden cuantitativo y cualitativo, los primeros para medir el impacto económico de estos en la organización y los segundos para su evaluación desde el punto de vista médico y logístico. Se estudiaron los criterios seleccionados en 487 fármacos durante un período de cinco años. Los fármacos se clasificaron según los tres metodos expuestos y se propusieron una serie de acciones estratégicas para su mejor administración al considerar la interrelación de estas.]]></p></abstract>
