Sin embargo, la necesidad de permanecer constantemente en línea puede ocasionar síntomas y consecuencias que afectarían su bienestar personal y desempeño. Por ello, el objetivo de la presente investigación fue determinar si existe relación significativa entre la adicción a las redes sociales y la procrastinación académica en estudiantes del quinto grado de secundaria de 4 instituciones educativas públicas peruanas. El enfoque abordado fue cuantitativo, el diseño fue no experimental y el tipo, descriptivo correlacional de corte transversal. La muestra fue conformada por 233 estudiantes, quienes respondieron al Cuestionario de Adicción a Redes Sociales y la Escala de Procrastinación Académica, instrumentos con adecuadas propiedades psicométricas. De acuerdo a los resultados, los estudiantes se caracterizaban por tener bajos niveles de adicción a las redes sociales y niveles moderados de procrastinación académica. Además, se halló que el coeficiente de correlación Rho de Spearman entre ambas variables fue de 0,429 y el p-valor fue inferior al nivel de significancia (p&lt;0,05). Se concluyó que existe una relación significativa entre la adicción a redes sociales y la procrastinación académica en estudiantes del quinto grado de secundaria de 4 instituciones educativas públicas peruanas. Por ello, era necesario que las instituciones educativas gestionen la participación de profesionales para que detecten y desarrollen programas psicoeducativos que permitan tratar a los estudiantes que usan compulsivamente las redes sociales.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT In recent years, social networks have increased in popularity, especially among the youngest, as there is a need for them to connect with other people who share similar interests. However, the need to constantly stay online can cause symptoms and consequences that would affect your personal well-being and performance. Therefore, the objective of this research was to determine if there is a significant relationship between addiction to social networks and academic procrastination in fifth grade high school students from 4 Peruvian public educational institutions. The approach addressed was quantitative, the design was non-experimental and the type was descriptive, correlational, cross-sectional. The sample was made up of 233 students, who responded to the Social Networks Addiction Questionnaire and the Academic Procrastination Scale, instruments with adequate psychometric properties. According to the results, the students were characterized by having low levels of addiction to social networks and moderate levels of academic procrastination. Likewise, it was found that the Spearman's Rho correlation coefficient between both variables was 0.429 and the p-value was below the significance level (p&lt;0.05). It was concluded that there is a significant relationship between addiction to social networks and academic procrastination in fifth grade high school students from 4 Peruvian public educational institutions. Therefore, it was necessary for educational institutions to manage the participation of professionals to detect and develop psychoeducational programs that allow students who compulsively use social networks to be treated.]]></p></abstract>
