<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2221-24502020000100010&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2221-24502020000100010&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2221-24502020000100010&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN El empleo del plasma rico en plaquetas autólogo (PRP) es eficaz para estimular procesos de regeneración de tejidos dañados, como es el caso de la lipoatrofia facial, que se caracteriza por la reducción del tejido adiposo subcutáneo facial y afecta frecuentemente a personas viviendo con VIH. Sin embargo, no son frecuentes los reportes del uso del PRP en personas viviendo con VIH y en general la descripción de eventos adversos relacionados con su aplicación y la del ozono en diferentes patologías también es escaza. Paciente masculino de 55 años, diagnosticado seropositivo al VIH en 2002 y con manifestaciones clínicas de lipoatrofia facial, que se incluyó en un estudio de evaluación del efecto de la aplicación de PRP ozonizado para el tratamiento de lipoatrofia facial. El paciente recibió un total de seis aplicaciones separadas por 45 días cada una. La seguridad se evaluó mediante el seguimiento de algunos parámetros de laboratorio clínico y el examen físico al paciente antes y después de cada intervención. En la quinta aplicación del PRP ozonizado el paciente presentó una inflamación la zona tratada de mayor intensidad y duración a la esperada. Esta manifestación se exacerbó en la siguiente aplicación, por lo que se interrumpió el tratamiento. Este signo desapareció entre el cuarto y quinto día después de suspendido el tratamiento. No se observaron modificaciones de los parámetros clínicos evaluados. Los tratamientos que utilizan PRP y ozono han evidenciado ser seguros y efectivos, sin embargo, en algunos casos puede presentarse la ocurrencia de eventos adversos de intensidad maderada como la inflamación aguda que se puede agravar si no se interrumpe el tratamiento.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The use of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is effective in stimulating regeneration processes of damaged tissues, such as facial lipoatrophy, which is characterized by the reduction of facial subcutaneous adipose tissue and frequently affects people living with HIV. However, reports of the use of PRP in people living with HIV are not frequent and in general the description of adverse events related to their applications and ozone use in different pathologies is also unusual. A 55-year-old male patient, diagnosed with HIV seropositive in 2002 and with clinical manifestations of facial lipoatrophy, was included in a study evaluating the effect of the application of ozonized PRP for the treatment of facial lipoatrophy. The patient received a total of six applications separate for 45 days each one. Safety was assessed by monitoring some clinical laboratory parameters and physical examination of the patient before and after each intervention. In the fifth application of the ozonized PRP, the patient presented an inflammation in the treated area of greater intensity and duration than expected. This manifestation was exacerbated in the next application, so the treatment was interrupted. The sign disappeared between the fourth and fifth day after last treatment. No modifications of the clinical parameters evaluated were observed. The PRP and ozone use have proven to be safe and effective, however in some cases adverse events of hardwood intensity such as inflammation can occur and aggravated if treatment is not interrupted.]]></p></abstract>
